OK, so, I finally figured out what seems to be the problem after weeks of troubleshooting! The whole problem was that to see the problem, the SHO had to be on the ground so that the suspension and subrframe were supported by the wheels and not a jack. Here is a pic of what I found:

DSC00813

It may not be clear at first, but that is quite a gap between the body and the subframe bushing, and this was the rear passenger side. The front passenger side also looked like this and both could be spun or wiggled with little effort. Their mounting bolts are tight as can be, so it must just be bad bushings, which I will be switching out next week with Gen 3 units. I began to realize that I noticed the "thud" and clanking noise accompanying it only weeks after having a new clutch put in, so I am wondering if the shop that did that bent my subframe, or perhaps damaged the bushings. I guess I won't know until new ones are in, but man has the problem gotten worse over the last two months. If I leave a stop with out babying the clutch and acceloration, you hear a huge clap noise and then hear the exhaust bang around and squeak. I can't wait to fix this! Thanks for all the ideas guys, I appreciate it!
