Go back and loosen and remove all the stuff you just did and do it again. I pinched a vacuum hose first time I did the intake gaskets and you could not see it from the front. If something was running ok before your work and after not so much, then go back and do it again slowly looking for anything that may have been damaged or not sealing correctly
That's what I figured I'd have to do unfortunately it's just weird the butterflies are stuck in the middle and can only be moved manually looks like I'm gonna have to repaint the snakes after this one lol
The not running thing in regards to the intake could be:
Missing ground. The two plenum connector brackets by the DIS need to be torqued down properly as well as the tie-down bracket by the throttlebody. Also, the contact between the bolt ****** and the brackets need to be bare and unpainted. Obviously the threads in the intake plenum need to be bare. Also, the ground strap from the intake support located nearest the passenger seat needs to be properly tightened to the stud on the intake support and connected to the firewall.
Idle Air Control valve not plugged in, or broken during uninstall/reinstall
Wiring to crank position sensor damaged (the harness connects right between the valve covers near the waterpump
DIS broken or not connected properly
Not sure if a vacuum leak will keep the car from running, but it will definitely keep it from running correctly. Make sure the big supply hose is hooked up and unobstructed, as well as all the lines.
The smoking is most likely from oil falling on the exhaust manifold heat shield due to a rolled valve cover gasket.
I stupidly didn't have my brother take pictures of the intake painting process, but there are a lot of surfaces that have to be masked when painting or powder coating, or else you run the risk of not grounding properly.
You can see in the last pic where the intake supports connect are unpainted on both the intake side and the head. That is also how I did plenum brackets.
Looks good man! I'm working now but will check everything when I get home j know for sure I didn't connect the bracket with the ground on the stud could that be a possible cause?
Yes the one with hoses running through it I believe it went ground nut bracket nut but I couldn't get the bracket to go back on the stud after I was done so I left it
The black bracket the holds those connectors of the wiring harness? No needed to run, but it's best if it's attached. Puts less strain on those connectors.
But the stud itself needs to be bolted to the manifold and the ground attached.
