Does`anyone have a spare 3.2 starter that I could buy off of. I was on my way to my gf's house from dearborn heights to waterford, stopped of to pick up some takeout and when I got back in the car & tryed to start it no luck. Lights & all electricals are fine, lights are all bright. Earlyer in the night when I started the car it was a little slow to crank over. The battery is a 3 month old Interstate battery. I tryed jumping it, but no luck.

My thoughts is that its the starter, cause when I try to start it it will only click once and nothing else. Seems like the solenoid wont work.... so right no the car is in the parking lot of Carrie Lee's on the corner of M59 & Williams Lake Rd.

So does anyone localy have a starter that I could buy off of them?

Never tried this on a SHO...

If you know which terminals are which, I believe you can bridge the starter solenoid with a paperclip or small piece of wire...

Temporary fix, but if it works, you can get home.

Bah, just grab hold of a screwdriver, ignore the sparks and bridge that puppy. Just make sure it's in park or in neutral, since you will be under the nose of the car when you do it.

I have a starter in my garage, but I don't know what the compatibilty is between 3.2 and 3.0 starters. I don't even know what year this starter came off of. If you can try to find out if it'll work...or what I need to look for to see if it matches up, I can throw my tools in the car and mosey my way on out there tomorrow morning or something and we'll get you back on the road....assuming that it's a good starter......it was free. I haven't tested it yet.

Unfortunatly, I'm not at home, so I can't run out and see if the starter works. If I get home in time tonight, I'll check it to see if it'll work.

Hope I can help...if not, I KNOW someone on the East side of the state has spare starters....Bill? Chris? Got any goods????

You wasted money. It is most likely the battery terminals. Clean the terminal posts and get new terminals. The same thing happened to Matt.

Back in Michigan ... again.
TRy giving the terminals a good clean. And if that doesn't work, keep a hammer handy and when it doesn't work, crawl under there and tap the starter with the hammer. You may get a few more cranks out of it this way.

well, we'll try other stuff before we install a new one. but just want to have one on hand if thats the case. not like i cant return it.

True. But yeah, that's what happened to me. Spent way too long trying to figure out what it was. Took all the bolts off the starter. Then someone on here told me to check the terminals. Did that, and it started right up. Just make sure there is a good connection from the wires to the terminals, and from the terminals to the posts. The wire is where mine was messed up...

he could also check the power wire from the battery to the starter....if the selenoid is going bad (or loose) or the cable's loose, you could wiggle it and get it going...I had that problem on the 92...

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Mario ended up saving my butt once again. I tryed to tap on it last night when it died and nothing happened. Today before I took the old one out I tapped it again and nothing. I checked the connection at the battery, all my wirin and the connections at the back of the starter. The starter terminals were nice and clean. At that point I just went ahead and replaced it. We took the old one back to get tested and all it did was just click once and thats it.

Again thank to everyone for all the suggestions. I would also like to thank whoever called me last night to see if I still needed a ride, I was halfway asleep at my gf's house and I don't beleive I caught your name, but thanks again. Just goes to SHO the brotherhood we have here.
