I don't know if this is the proper place for posting this request. But I'm desperate. I need a new coil connector as the one on the car has faulty wiring. If I push the connector a certain way the engine will shut off. I've relieved the pull on it by the drooping wiring harness but it still happens after driving for awile. (About after driving 100 to 200 miles).

I've tired taping it in a position where the car will start and run but eventually the connector moves and I stall in the middle of traffic. I can tell when this is going to happen because the car starts bucking when I am moving but as soon as I stop it stalls.

It take me several times of performing gymnastics on and moving the connector around until it starts again. In the meantime as I am stalled in traffic I end up ******* off people behind me and it is VERY dangerous when this happens and I am driving on roads/highways in the barren Southwest (like Joshua Tree National Park) in the middle of nowhere and there is no shoulder on the road when I drive through the canyons.

Long explanation but does anyone have a coil connector for an '89.

P.S. coil is new and there are no codes.

Just repost this in the "Classifieds" under "wanted to buy" and people will message you with their proposals.

Thanks

I am also getting code 18. spout. The shorting plug is in and the engine runs great when it runs. Would code 18 cause the problem with the coil connector?

Is there more than one spout connector/circuit on the '89?

Not sure if you have a pick and pull near you, but the connector should be the same for pretty much all v6 ford coils as far as I know.

If you pull the connector off, are the pins for all the wires fully seated in the plug?

I'm sure you can probably find the proper pigtail at RockAuto or in the Motorcraft catalog. I don't know the number, but know it's available, should be around $10-$15.

The Motorcraft part number will start with WPT. Should be common to most V6 engines of the era that use a similar coil pack. NAPA may even carry their own version of the pigtail.

I'll have to check that.

Love your ".... repeatedly"
