i had my 94 ATX in last week for new rear brakes, sway bar end links, and new rack and pinion steering (totally FUBARED). anyways i got it back last wednesday and been driving it around since. handles and stops a shitload better (also getting another 60 miles to the tank) thats where the fun stops. im coming home last night after a friend spun a bearing in his 3000GT VR-4 and i hear the very beginning of warped brakes (pulsing high pitched metal on metal at low RPMs/speed and a little while turning corners) so im thinking great, here we go again. but as im sitting at the gate (gated community) i accelerate slowly thru the gates and at about 1800-2000RPMs i hear a slight rasping noise. i cant describe it really. just a pulsing rasp, like mebe a piece of metal rubbing lightly against a brick wall. beyond 2000RPMs it went away. it was like 3am so i didnt think anything of it except something was up with the steering to complement the new brake problem. this morning i wake up and thinkg about it, its got the exact same sympotms as my friends VR-4 spun bearing (noise at 1800-2000rpms) and i think back and since about a week before taking it in for brakes/steering fixes it had what sounded like lifter tick. so now, can anyone tell from my description if ive got a spun bearing or something else? or if (i hope) its related to a ****** install job on the steering somehow.
