Hey all, I haven't been active in the past couple weeks due to a family passing which had me going back down south (rip wallet/ being able to get a tune any time soon). However when I was traveling I turned on the navigation screen just for the compass and noticed a button that said "where am I?" and I clicked on it; the next screen gave me my exact location with latitude and longitude. I was wondering if all Taurus's had that or if maybe I do have the navigation package and if getting one of the SD cards with the maps loaded would allow me to use the navigation. probably a stupid question but I figured if it could tell me my lat and Lon along with which direction my car is facing that I should be able to use the maps just fine on it.

Interesting question. Do you have the touch screen and Sync 2.0? Just because you have a GPS module, doesn't mean you have the navigation itself. Or at least, I don't think so...

With Sync 2.0, there's a "call 911 in case of an accident" when it's paired with your phone, and it'll report your location to 911. That needs a GPS module. Again, I don't think that guarantees you have Nav though. But, it might be easy to install a unit from a junkyard.

With sync three you can not see the navigation button unless you have navigation so maybe you do have it
You can have forscan active the feature but the radio will give you an error if you don't have the apim with nav

Mine did the same thing. I then hacked the Nav screen with Forscan and unlocked the Navigation. I bought a map SD card off of Amazon. Cost me like 30 bucks altogether.

Read up on Forscan. I did this last summer and posted here or on one of the other forums. The most expensive part was the bluetooth OBD II adapter. It was well worth it. If someone nearby has an adapter, then you just need the sd card for maps. Again, if there is someone local, they may be able to lend it to you to test.

I have heard Ford broke this hack with a later update. I do not know for sure as my car came with nav and I swapped to SYNC3 anyway.

Well I may have to do it one of these days, it’ll definitely save me some phone battery on long trips lol

FYI the USB ports on MFT(SYNC2) cars only deliver 0.5amp, SYNC3 is 2.0 amps. Even while plugged in and using apps/navigation on my phone it would slowly go down. With SYNC3 it will charge no matter what I am using on my phone. Even with nav I still use my phone most of the time as it updates in real time for traffic.
