So I did some searching on here and anything on this topic is kind of old.

I'd really like to be able to turn off all the nannies. Traction and stability control and advance trac. I have an 11 non pp. Is there a way to do this?

I did find a thread where Jamie from livernois was saying they cannot remove safety limitations like stability control. He said it's the same with speed limiter, illegal to remove, but they can raise the speed limiter tosomething ridiculous like 250mph. So, couldn't that same loophole apply to stability? Say let the car slide 200yds before stability kicks in. Idk if that's how it works. Clearly it somehow measures grip or g force or something, and at a certain point steps in and "saves your life". Problem is I don't want my life to be saved while trying to whip donuts in an icy parking lot.

You wanna have fun. Ford does not want to get sued. Hopefully someone can find a happy middle ground :)
Hopefully. Seems like a consumer knowingly pushing a button labeled as turning that stuff off would cover Ford's @$$ enough. But I guess it's a product of the world we live in now.

Yup, there you have it! The only problem is that computers are so fast, so it takes a bit of effort to adapt to THEIR response and make the car what you want it to do anyway!

I have a 16 and don't believe I can turn off stability control. Traction control yes but the area next to the rear shade button has 2 black dummy buttons that are solid. I have a non PP SHO..

For NON P/P models I think they are supposed to be like that. If you had Drivers assist Package (Active Park Assist/ACC) that would be one button. P/P with track mode would be the other. Ironically I believe you can't get P/P and DAP one or the other.

From Ford Website:.......and YES One or the other not both. P/P........$1300.....................DAP........$1995

Driver Assist Package Includes:

• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Collision Warning with Brake Support
• Lane Keep Assist / Lane Departure Warning
• Active Park Assist

I believe I read somewhere that it was a government mandate that all cars have stability control (that cannot be turned off) by a certain date. I read it somewhere so I'm not 100% sure it's true. But it sounds likely enough that I believed it and didn't really look into it.

It sounds like Livernois has the ability to turn off stability control but doesn't for legal reasons; which is understandable. I wonder what software one would have to purchase in order to do it themselves.

Simply buying some tuning software will not help you. There are several safety systems that have to be tuned out in order for something like this to be done...ABS might not be something that you want to ditch!

There is a way to turn all of that stuff off...it is kindof a secret though. CLICK HERE!

I would love to buy a RS but it's not in the cards for me.

In all seriousness, what would one have to purchase to be able to "look" at these safety devices? I agree that for normal driving one wouldn't want to ditch their ABS. For normal driving one has the traction control on. However, if one was on a closed course wanting to do donuts then one might want to ditch the ABS for some fun. In the PP versions (at least 10-12, not sure on 13+) one could also turn off the stability control at the push of a button. Again, one probably wouldn't drive around with it off, but it would be good to have when one is on a closed course. Obviously there are ways to do it. It's just a matter of knowing what software to have and what to do with it. Any help tips in the right direction would be appreciated.

There it a "sport" mode on '13+ models and when in park, foot on brake, and pressing the Trac button for 5 sec, will turn off the advance trac. Not sure how much it actually shuts down the nannies.

The RS was a joke, don't take offense to it....

Honestly guys I get what you are after. Trust me, I do. Physics however, is a mother...the SHO is a FWD vehicle, is 4400#s and although nimble for a family sport sedan it is not on rails. It would be a careening missile if you were able to enact 4 wheel drifting on such a large car. Even many of its segment competitors do not have the ability to shut everything off. Because of all of the built in safeties that are addressed in several interlocking parameters there are many secondary systems that would have to be shut off as well. There are certain things that the end consumer will never be able to do.

I understood the RS was a joke and wasn't taking offense. That's why I lead the next section with, "in all seriousness" to show I understood.

My thing is if I wanted to turn it off myself for myself I would appreciate knowing what program I need to get. At the end of last season I started taking my 4400# SHO to the AutoX events and it's a blast. It's not going to win because of what it is, but it's what I have and it's fun. It's done on a large old airport that's closed and lots of open space. In the winter it's a great place to do donuts as there's nothing to hit.

I guess here's my point. If one wants to turn off the assists and actually drive their car knowing the potential dangers, what's the problem in showing them the right direction? One would think I couldn't drive my '66 Mustang because it has no ABS, no traction control, no drivers assists, no power steering, and you have to shift while driving at the same time. I'm not looking for a "how to" or anything that would get you guys in trouble. While most end users won't be able to turn things off, it's been pretty well implied you have that ability but don't for legal reasons (which I agree with). I'm simply wondering what program is used to see these parameters. I don't see anything wrong with helping enthusiasts out who want to do something on their own.

Have you done any suspension upgrades, SilverSHO? Sorry if you've posted this elsewhere already, but I am used to looking at the signature lines on the post to help me out in that regard. With the popularity of Tapatalk, that feature seems to have become a dodo :)

I haven't yet. I just started getting into AutoX at the end of the season and my Taurus was still just a couple months old in my ownership. I have the PP brakes and MC sitting in the garage awaiting install. My biggest issue with suspension upgrades is most of them involve lowering springs. I have a long gravel driveway with a decent crown so I'm concerned about lowering it and scraping. I don't go out to win the class or anything. I just go out to improve my driving and improve my personal times. So in that respect, I'm not super concerned about upgrading suspension. I might do it later, but it's not high on my list right now.

Luckily with Megan coilovers and adjustable end links available, you don't have to compromise on suspension. Corner balancing the car should help with your AutoX outings.

There's actually 2 modes.
Foot on the brake tap Trac twice It goes into "sport mode"
Hold it for 5 sec, turns off advance trac

This is for 13+ Performance Package equipped SHO's only, I believe...

Non-PP's don't have the option of disabling Advance Trac.
