Legally there is no liability, but still doesn't keep a customer from getting upset and blaming the tuner and leading to a negative image of the tuner for something they didn't do. Just a slippery slope.

Yeah that's what I figured. I deal with a lot of customers on a large scale and sometimes the blame between contractors gets to that type of issue. In the end we offer 1year warranty on all of our work and then offer additional maintenance contracts, but sometimes things happen and you get a bad rep for things out of your control.

Unfortunately that's not how it works, and not a liability that most tuners are willing to expend in exchange for their name being tarnished when things go wrong. I'm sure you know more about tuning than the average customer, but unless you negotiate with a tuner to purchase the actual tuning file and sign away any liability on their part for destruction that may potentially occur, I don't see that happening.

I have an aftermarket tune. And I have and will tweaked it. It was worth purchasing it to get a head start on the all the torque limiters. This platform has little support on HPtuners forum and there are no other places to learn. If someone writes a guideline, HPtuners updates the tables on the latest version and then the guidelines don't match up anymore.

I don't see tune differently that hard parts. If someone buys a meth system and blows their motor up, they may or may not bad mouth the vendor. That's always to the risk (both ways) with performance parts.

Just saying that 99% of our customers have no clue what they are looking at, and we are happy to help them through the entire process. If you let us know when you plan to go to the track, Luis will make himself available to do trackside support and you can get a revision within 5-10 minutes of sending in your log. It's a lot more peace of mind than blindly changing values and hoping for the best.

The nannies are only a small part of tuning these, and the knowledge you get with a custom tuning support package comes with your purchase.

It's a lot easier to rebute parts installs that weren't factored into a tune that someone going on Facebook and starting a tuner war because "so and so sold me a tune and my car blew up" because there's no way for the tuner to know anything was modified.

But if you know what you're doing, by all means tune away. Just like you said though things are always changing and the guides are very out of date, so having someone readily available to optimize your file each step of the way is worth the one time fee to me.

Honestly I would love to tune my own SHO and ST. However, Brad has done a fantastic job with both of my cars. They do everything I want them to do. I don't have time to learn how to tune own set ups, and there is where I rely on the tuner.

Now when I build my next racecar, it will have a junkyard LS and Holley EFI. I will learn how to tune that platform, because it I blows it up, it won't cost much money, nor time.

Man and I just thought the N-Gauge was compact and practical. Instead of a massive 5" screen. But now I have to think about all this stuff too. So you're saying a HPtuner device can not tune as many "things" in the ECU as a SCT? I feel like you lost me there.

You can check out the software for yourself at www.hptuners.com/downloads for free.
You can also load stock PCM files and check out all the available options.
As far as SCT...they are the most common as of right now... although that seems to be rapidly changing especially in the latest model years.
You can check out SCT software if you fork out a bunch of cash or if you convince a tuner to send you screenshots...but that probably won't happen...if it does, please share.

HPTuners is rapidly growing in popularity due to their rapid support and adjustability, like the new 2 step option for S550 Mustangs that SCT won't touch. We also are able to get 9000 rpm out of a Coyote Mustang with HPTuners where SCT has a hard stop at 8000.

HPTuners has also cracked all of the new ST vehicles where SCT is usually pretty slow and relies on an individual shop to do all the homework for them then it goes into a waiting list for implementation.

Well now it's sounding like HP tuners is who I want. I really like how compact the N-Gauge is. 5 liter, you tune through HP?

So I went and wrote a him a PM, even went out to the car to take a picture of the gear indicator on the dash, so he would know what I'm talking about. Clicked send and got this:

And here's the table it needs (from a 2018 F-150)

Well you've done the legwork. I'll try to add a post to support. I've had decent luck contacting them previously
