OK so I pick up this new 94 ATX 100k some miles off a dealer lot few days ago. Car is in good shape but I don't know the history. They accepted it as a trade in for a new Acura so I figure it's well taken care of. Yesterday I'm vacuuming out the car and under the seat I find a $20 bill, 3 french fries, some change, and a ziploc baggie with 3 odd parts in it! Here's a pic off my phone of the things in the bag:
OK, so I figured the thing on the left is the jumper plug to the cassette radio because the car has the slave CD. The middle one I think is an LPM but I don't really know as I really don't know much about them. The thing on the right I have absolutely no clue what it is but it seems to be a bracket of some kind. Now I wanna know for sure that the left item is indeed the jumper so I go pull the radio and find out that the CD unit wasn't originally part of the system but was added on at some point as the harness is spliced into the main radio harness, so it is the jumper. Also I notice there is a coiled wire spliced into the radio's ACC and ground wires. It looks like it could belong to a cell phone charger. I try to trace where it goes to find out it's not attached to anything and the end is cut off where there are 2 wires, red and black. Now I look down where the cassette cubby is and see 2 holes where it looks like something was screwed in and reach into the holder to find 2 small black screws and a washer loose in there. So it looks like something was mounted in there - could be anything from a cell phone, performance monitor module, guage, satellite radio, anything. Then I decide to look a little into the car (figuring it may have had some mods from this) and from what I can tell from a surface glance over it has F+R STBs, lowered suspension with Koni's, a K&N drop in, and aftermarket fogs (only things I can notice obviously at the moment). Now since I figure the chip is an LPM, there must be/were other mods done to the car but there is no way I can find out what they were/are until I pull things apart which I don't have the time for right now. For all I know it could've had a supercharger on there and it was taken off before the trade in. It could help being able to find out what parts are/were on it, that way I'll know if I really have to start taking things apart to find out if they are still on there (like if I could tell easy if it had a bigger MAF or if I would have to pull stuff to find out if it has cams thru the LPMs programming). I don't wanna just plug the chip in for fear that it might throw codes all over the place and put my car outta whack if it has the wrong tuning for the current setup if anything was changed. On top of that I have no idea where to plug it in. There's a sticker on the chip that has "D44180" or "Duu180" handwritten on it:
Now what is the last bracket? I wonder if it could be for the chip but it doesn't look like they fit together. It could be for mounting something else but it doesn't match up to the holes in the holder. Here's another angle:
OK so now I have a few questions since I have no experience with LPMs and any help would be greatly appreciated:
Is the middle item indeed an LPM?
If so, is there any way I can find out what it's programmed for from the code on it?
If I can find out it's programming, where/who can I go to or what can I do to find this information out?
Where/what does it plug into? (should I just go right ahead and plug it in? safe to do so?)
And lastly, does anyone know what that bracket thingy is/for?
Thanks much for any and all help!
