here are a good set of pictures of the damage done to my car due to an accident a few weeks ago.. to date.. i have had to take a sledge hammer to knock the pieces of my destroyed bumper cover off.. i had to drive a crowbar into my a/c conderser in order to get to the radiator which is completely exploded.. my problem right now is that i hit my car hard enough to bend my radiator core support enough where the a\c conderser was pushed into my radiator.. subsequently exploding the tanks.. what was left of the radiator was pushed back into my fan with pretty much distintigrated as it continued to spin as the fan blades were being broken into thousands of pieces.. my fan was pushed far enough back that it has bent the shit out of my oil filter attached to the motor block.. it's been a bitch so far getting everything taken off my car because bolts and nuts are broken and everything is wedged together.. ive had to take the grinding wheel to a few different things now.. using the crowbar more than my ratchet set.. also.. ive noticed that my car is sitting funny.. the front wheels are off camber in a postive manner.. they are sitting V shaped.. i got underneath my car and there is a space inbetween my subframe bolts and the bushings.. it appears that i have had the subframe bolt recall done.. thats about all i have for now.. my insurance company would not total the car.. so i refused to make a claim.. i have 1000 dollar deductibles so it is impossible for me make a claim with them not totaling the car.. looks like im gonna be putting it together piece by piece.. any help is appreciated.. i know im going to need it..

Man, that's a shame I really liked the look of that car. How much did the insurance co. quote you? I can't believe the book value is more than the repair estimate. Drop that deductable to $250 or $500. Good luck. Check out Alfitz.com. and sho-parts.com for some potential replacement parts.

Thats gotta suck. but don't worry my sho has a hole in the rear fender. and my front fender on the same side was pushed so far back that my door wouldn't open. But oh well, needless to say my brother is never touching my SHO again. at least your insurance knows about yours. my bro didn't call mine. so I get to very slowly fix all the damages one paycheck at a time. It's worth it though.

Dont screw with it Ian, let the pros fix it...it will be like new and only cost u the grand....if your deductible were lower, you would have paid more out in premiums anyways. Your time fixing it and cost of buying the parts to try and make it look just ok, are worth more than the $1000 it will cost to pay the insurance. Call and at least get a shop to give you an estimate. At least then you will know what you are looking at. Meanwhile you can get a short term job to raise the cash.

sorry it got smacked. Chris was just telling me how you whoop his hiney everytime you raced him.......and he has all the mods.

good luck man.

You at least want the frame professionally straightened, if nothing else. I have a bumper cover, Hood (same color as yours), headlights, header panel, AC Condensor, and any other misc parts you may need, but I'm down in Chicago? Drop me an email. Since these are very hard parts to ship, their prices would be excessivly cheap.

If you need to ship any parts, use Grey Hound Package Express. I had my hood shipped to Minneapolis from Boston for $65.00 It's the best price your gonna find for shippin' big items. You'll have to pick it up at your local Grey Hound station but it's worth the money you save. We put my new hood on right there and folded the old one in half and left it sittin' right in front of a bus. But that's only cause I had problems with Grey Hound. They sent my hood here, then sent it back 1 day later sayin' I never picked it up. Then when it got back to Boston, they wanted to charge me again for shippin' it back. Their policy is to keep it for a min. of 60 days. I'm in the process of gettin' my money back right now. I just smashed up my front end about a month ago. They quoted it at $7000 to repair it but I did it all for less then $500.... Good luck... Everythin' will be all good soon. thumbs_u

I agree...greyhound sent TWO front seats from St paul minnisota to Vermont for $125.

I didn't have problems...they kept my seats for a week, and only charged $2 a day.

maybe i'm insane, but it doesn't look that bad. just make sure the a pillars (body around the windshield) isn't bent at all. that would suck. other than that, there are enough dead shos and taurii where you can get anything from body panels to motor parts dirt cheap. forum members will cut you great deals to get that bad boy back on the road.

the only expensive part (that you can't do yourself), would be to paint it.

see ya,

If you were ever considering a cowl hood nows a good time. The two sites I gave previously could provide most of the parts. Also try Marcus B. [email protected]. How good are Nooks radiators? Prosuspension.com. Maybe put together an R-134a system.

Ian,

I'm sorry about the accident. That's an awesome car, and I appreciated getting to ride around in it (and watching your 1/4 mile runs) a few weeks ago.

I don't understand your insurance concerns. If your agent says they won't deem the car "totalled" then they're responsible for paying for the repairs less your deductible. For example, if they value your car at $4000 and the estimate to fix the work is $3000, they won't total it. BUT, they'll have to pay for $2000 of the repairs (since your deductible is $1000) and you'll be back on the road for exactly $1000 out of pocket. Even if, when the work gets done, the total ends up being $3500, you're still only responsible for $1000.

With a SHO that's as young and original as yours, I'd go this route to make damn sure the car is returned to its condition before the accident. This is the whole reason people carry insurance (well, plus medical liability).

If you need a loan to cover the $1000 deductible let me know. I'll have my attorney draw up some papers, we'll sign them and it'll be interest free :D

Good luck.
