Hi guys i dont post on here much but i love my sho to death. So much so i bought two of them. anyways my transmissions gone i changed the oil and filter. After doing so the 2nd and 3rd gear starting slipping. Now the second gear only comes in at 4k rpm. I think its the torque converter and if so am i better off doing a manual swap or changing the TC. I am lucky enough to have someone selling another 93 that has a manual and they want 500 for it. idk what to do was on a date when this happened. thank you in advanced.

Doing an ATX to MTX swap is not as simple as just pulling one out and installing the other. The ATX subframe is different from the MTX and will need to be swapped along with everything connected to it. All the little things will not line up any longer when you have the MTX subframe. Coolant hoses, Intake hose, Y-pipe, and i believe you will need the MTX wire harness and PCM.

I have never done this so i could be mistaken. I think the easier thing to do would be to find a good used ATX and just drop it in.

it started this after you changed the fluid and filter? i think? its hard to tell whats going on.

did you add enough fluid?
when my car ran low on trans fluid it would fall out of gear at times.

unfortunately, the torque converter will have nothing to do with if the trans shifts into 2nd gear or not.

either you don't have enough fluid in it, or the trans needs to be rebuilt.

Ok guys i double checked the fluid and its overfilled so there is enough. I just think the transmissions shot. I talked to the guy that is selling his sho without the engine and he told me he would do 400 for just the parts i need and i have to take them off ARGH!! Just to make sure enough fluid filter is on right not leaking so transmission right?

Over-full is not a good idea in an automatic. It is worth draining some out before you go any further. Try a little hose down the dip tube, otherwise you have to let it out the bottom by backing off the pan bolts.

fluid

my oil is dark red almost black even tho i just changed it and the filter. Should i just pump out what i can and put some new tranny fluid in? The reason I ask is i have pumped it out twice and back in thinking it was good. But if its burnt i should try one more oil change? What do u guys think?

no. very dark fluid is burnt. for whatever reason, that trans is dead. easiest is to just find another trans. or possibly have that one rebuilt assuming no major internal damage has occurred.
