I thought it was about time to post a few pics of my car.
I bypassed my IAC by a drilled throttle body. EgR delete.. well half, secondary butterflies removed, Short ram intake, I made the active hood scoop my self, cruise control delete, really routed all vacuumed lines to the Brake booster connection on the rear of the surge tank, and one vacuum on the 90* elbow.

No codes thrown, and idles like a champ at 675. My throttle response has increased dramatically and I'm really looking forward to my dyno in a few months.

Boom...... just dawned on me.....

The intake air temp sensor is located in the stock air box.... which by the time it passes through the IAC elbow it is done heated up some... which leads to my theory of an in proper reading.

So since I bypassed the IAC I inserted the intake air temp sensor in the elbow. This in theory should be a more accurate reading of the intake temp as it's closer to the surge tank than reading engine Bay temp by the filter.

If your throttle response has increased, think about putting an auxiliary transmission cooler. It's the weak point of the car. But good work, interesting to know that you have no engine code with an EGR delete...

How did you made your hood scoop ? I'm wonderring to pay second hood to make holes like this but on each side of the round center with ovoid form to keep rear head cooler. :p

Did you retreive something inside the 90 degrees elbow ?

I'm glad that you like my hood scoop :) it's unique, that's for sure. And engine Bay temp has decreased tremendously but the intake manifold is still running too hot for my comfort.
I have the weirdest way of doing my hood scoop. I took the roof compartment out of a 1994 grand am. This was the cool thing ppl put paperwork in. And I was going to install it inside the car.....

Well then it dawned on me.. a hood scoop. So I hallowed it out by cutting the back mounting piece off with my DreMel.
Then I opened my hood to offset it from my filter as rain or snow wouldn't blend well.
Anyways. I measured the modified vent to where the rounded edge begins and notched it with my dremel. This was so only the smooth flat part showed out of the hood. I used my dremel to cut about 1/2" by the measurement of the hood vent into my hood..... yes it was scary lol.
Then I pushed the vent up through the hole and slid it back to where the notches are to hold it in place. Now I shut my hood and the very front of the vent rests on my battery which helped hold it in place.
I had to then cut straight back a few inches and hand bend my hood to fit my desire. As a hammer would leave dents. I also used channel locks to help pull down the part of hood I just cut and I gave it a little tight fit. As I had to pull the vent out several times to adjust it

I only had a tube of through the roof silicone so I used some of that to give it a good seal. Then I clear coated it all. And then I plaster or bondo or what ever it was to make it look all pretty.

Sanded it down and added a few coats of white and clear :).
And I'm with you on the dual hood scoops. It's just been cold over here in wyoming lol... and I only had one grand am to yank the piece from so I am going to the junkyard for a new one this weekend. :)
I really hope this makes some weird sense. My teminology isn't always the best.

Anyhow Gen 3 SHO FAN. will the transmission cooler for the 2009 AWD taurus x work on our ax4n? I have one :)

And I have a cel for my coil pack 8.

About the EgR delete... it's complicated lol but it's not completely removed. Just that part of it is lol. I have been tracing the SAI but I'm confused with it. Once I get that understood I'm pulling the rest of the EgR and SAI.

Nice work there! Can u explain the benefits of removing the IAC. We all need catch cans too. 150 miles after full intake sanding and already have oil coating in the TB.

Thank you Mikey :). The IAC was always acting up. And it gave me a weird hissing noise from the filter. My RPMS were always flouxuating and I was never a major fan of a 1500 idle in dead of winter at -13.

I began drilling my plate at 9/64. Just a small little guy, and upped the size until I found my 675-700 rpm range at a cold idle and 750-775 rpm range warmed up. It still rises and lowers but over all it seems to have a more steady vaccume pull. As instead of the air flow having to go up through the throttle body and back down, it is already within the TB with a more direct flow than up, down, straight as when you press the Gass petal it directs the floe from the iac, up, down, straight, etc.

So now I use 10w30 with a half qt lucas oil stabilizer. This is due to the heat that rises from the front bank cat by the oil pan and I don't have cash for rod bearings and at 127k I don't want a spin or any dry starts.

Ps. I have a vaccume pull in the valve cover. Good or bad? Should i Replace oil cap with k&n cap filter or does our cars require the vaccume pull within the valve cover?

Also the catch can. I am having troubles deciding where to mount it lol. And I am ordering one here this weekend so if all goes well I'll mount it where the soon to be ex SAI is currently at :)

My oldest son had one of these Gen3 I never saw it during the day. He has a 91-92? Probe GT now.
I can not stand looking at his cars because he keeps them very dirty inside.
When I traded my 08 Limited the dealer said he NEVER saw a trade in that clean...
I bought my youngest son a 08 SEL and have tried to show him how to keep the inside clean. But I have to do it myself to get it right!!!

I've been to Cheyenne before. But it wasn't for cars. It actually was for trains.

But if you are ever out this way, hit me up.

Thanks for the details on the iac mod. I like what u did, defintly has me thinking. I will zero to 60 my 99 tomorrow and report back to you. My MIL is on dang p1413low voltage at the air pump.

Imho mount the can low so when the oil vapors condense gravity will send them to the can. Please give me details on which hose you put where. I wish to do this myself after cleaning the butterflies. Done searches, think I got it, but more info would be much appreciated.

Ps I pulled up next to a gen 4 sho at a stop last night, wished I saw a gen 1&2 in the mirror. Can't wait for the next cars and coffee

My vacuum lines are teed together and I'll do my best to explain them :).

The valve cover hoses are teed together and I have a 2" hose connecting to the tee above the pcv valve.
The pcv valve tee has a hose going to the brake booster port on the surge tank.
The hose that connected to the 90* bend is teed into the hose connecting to the brake booster port.
The brake booster box mounted on the fire wall is teed together with the a.I. hose coming from that same box. Then this too is teed together at the 90 elbow where the pcv valve is stock connected to.

However it caused a negative pressure on the valve covers and I need to figure that one out or I'll be running rich.

So tomorrow I'll read route them ND figure it all out.

I am not sure about it yet and it's all in the trial and error stage. I want to figure out a system that minimizes air turbulence in the intake. And provides my motor with a smoother naturally aspirated motor. As I plan on attending some things :)

Thank u for the info. Really been enjoying reading the mods your performing. Looking forward to your dyno results as well. Sure seems like your on the path to a more direct air flow.

Thanks Mikey :). It really means a lot to me.

My newest mod is this... the pressure from the valve covers was spitting oil into my intake. So until I get a catch can I have it directed out of my intake to a separate filter thingy just to collect the oil and bypass gasses.

Then I found out my psp relay was messing with my idles and my acceleration too much so I had to disconnect that huge black tank looking thingy next to the radiator overfill tank. It made a very abnoxious clicking noise and then my car would idle down then click again and it would Rev up.... I didn't like it.

Also I now have no vacuum ports on the 90 elbow and my new 0-60 clocked at 10.95 GPS certified.

I'm changing my trans filter tomorrow and I'm not doing the torque converter fluid until I can replace it with a high stall t.c. However I am thinking of making a drain bolt like the oil pan because I don't like dropping the pan if I over fill it by accident..

I need help with a catch can on mine. Any advice? It seems like you have a really good handle on these things.
