Are you sure you don't have an oil leak? Vavle stem seals wouls show burned oil out of the exhaust. You're problem is a leak that lets oil out side of the motor.

It is not uncommon for the rear valve cover gaskets to leak oil, which will be burned off the cats.

Thats my guess; happened to me.

Either that, or the front seals. They can leak on the cats, also.

i just did my CPS and i have an oil leak pretty bad to. I also did my rear valve cover gasket and thought that would fix it but i didn't do the front main seal. I feel like you (no i don't want to take it all apart again  ). I was wondering where is the front seal when your doing the 60K service? I wish someone would have told me. Oh Well

Mine is doing the same thing. I made a sort of SHOdiaper out of a piece of scrap leather. (I used to dabble in upholstry)
It catches the oil and has not needed changing in 3 months :thumb:

I vote for cam seals and/or front main.

When I do the head cover gaskets I can snap a pic which will be soon.
I just basically strung a 16"x18" scrap of leather behind the engine under where the head cover is leaking. One side hangs with
(dare i say it?)...bailing wire from the firewall the other hangs from something convienent sticking out of the engine.
(You guy must think I'm some kind of hillbilly now) :nut:
