Hey guys, figured I better start some record of my current restoration. I bought my 1994 ATX about 3 months ago in wretched shape for $500. I got it from the original owner that stopped maintaining it the last 60K KM. Needless to say it was rough. Just for safety it needed:

All 4 struts, both front control arms, all sway bar links, 4 tires (atleast it has cool 17" Cobra replicas) y-pipe with new converters, flex pipe, both O2 sensors and plugs and wires.

After failing the e-test twice, I finally realized I had to look into it, spark plug tubes were full of oil, that was why I had to do the tuneup. Afterwhich, it runs BEAUTIFULLY! Flew threw the e-test. It gets awesome mileage and has tons of power.

While getting ready to have it aligned, I found out the aprons in front of both strut towers are badly rusted, to the point where the car should not be on the road in my opinion. Since I have too much $$$$ into it to quit, time to fix her up. Both rockers are badly rotted, although I knew that along with a crappy passenger rear quarter.

Worst part about this is that this is supposed to be my daily driver. My 1988 LX 5.0 is in a million pieces in my home garage. Thank goodness my 1992 Dodge B250 motorhome is in good shape, it is currently being used as needed. The SHO is now at my buddies bodyshop. Started tearing it down yesterday, I uploaded some pictures.

Anyhow, car is getting a space inside starting tomorrow, rest of the car is getting torn down. I'll post proper pictures in the next few days. This car needs so much work, it is hardly worth the effort, but I always wanted one soooooooo.........

Here's a few better shots about 3 days before I found those holes:

Imageshack is a real PITA when it comes to getting pictures oriented properly, I really need to find a better place to use.

I was more intrigued by the logitech wheel setup you have on that imageshack account. And the 2.3 parts...SVO or Turbocoupe?

HAHA! Yeah, too much money into my PC sim racing hobby, I'm seriously considering selling it to help fund this project. It's a Logitech G25 which is about as fully modded as they come. All I have left to do is wire the parking brake lever I have (from a 98 Pontiac Sunfire) and it is complete. I doubt anyone would buy it so......

As for the 2.3 stuff, they were 84-85 SVO parts. the block/head is gone but I still have the intercooler and a few other random bits.

As for my car, it's being moved into the shop today, then the aggressive tear down begins. I really gotta focus on this project, I need this car back badly. As I said, I had no intention of doing it right now and it's my daily driver. Good thing it is a labor of love, I will have 3-4 times the $$$ into it than I can get retail.

My plans have been finalized, here's the short list:

1. Replace all rusty metal (kinda obvious)
2. Full re-paint. Car has rust issues everywhere, even the roof around the moonroof.
3. 60K service, no idea if it has ever been done, leaks oil out the valve covers/cam seals now. Timing belt potentially original.
4. Susp[ension has been 1/2 done already, I did all 4 struts (with quick struts) and front ball joints and rear swaybar bushing. Gonna replace anything else rubber in the suspension.
5. Brake upgrade and ABS repair/delete. I'm going to try fixing my random ABS cycling issues as well as the soft pedal.
6. Interior restoration. Driver's seat is getting bad and rear seat needs new stitching.
7. A/C repair. This has to work.
8. Moonroof repair. Does not currently work, unsure of issue, will be troubleshooting very soon.

Right now, I am hovering around $2500 total in this car, counting the $500 I paid for it. Parts alone for my planned repairs will be another $1000. The bodywork/paintjob is only going to cost me materials, my buddy and I trade off work and I just finished rebuilding his son's 2001 Cavalier Z24 engine so he currently owes me. As for the interior, that is last sadly, but I do know a guy with an upholstery shop.
