I finally got to prepping the subframe that will go into my ATX.. it needs a new one after a little.. well.. lets not get into that.

anyways.. this frame came off a '94 ATX SHO, also had the motor trans and all front suspension still attached.

Today I went up to my dad's where it's 'stored' and we pulled the engine, trans, struts/knuckles, PS rack, and LCAs off.. then we used a pressure washer to get all the grease off. Then we started wire-brushing the rust that was hiding under the grease.

Took a little while.. but it got done!

And I tried my best to clean all the rust from the subframe bushing mounts..

We used some rustoleum hammer something something paint.. can't remember at the moment and all the paint is at my dad's... it's meant to be sprayed over rust, and it has a texture to it.

Here's the frame after paint.

I used the same paint, but the brush-on type. It is very good stuff. Just be sure to let it cure a LONG time. Mine took a few days to get fully cured and hard.

Looks great BTW! :thumb:

It seems to be holding up. I doubt it does very well with heat, as it is an enamel. But it should be pretty resistant to oil.

Looks great. I am doing a quicky job on my new daily, which is just about done. I'm using some epoxy paint stuff that I picked up at Fleet Farm for painting farm equipment; we'll see how well it holds up to road salt.

Looks good. I used that same exact paint on my strut housings a few years ago. Be careful when you jack up the car that you don't take the paint off of the subframe. :)
