My 2016 Taurus SHO has started barking at me after I lock it. The horn sounds three times without pushing any buttons on the remote. Does this mean that the remote battery is flat or is it something else. Its a little annoying and even embarrassing to have a barking car which you are out around town. OMG now it is barking in short, short, long like morse code, I feel like it may be possessed like in the Sting King Movie Christine!

Just to be clear, the "barking" you are referring to is the three honks of the horn, not the sound of a failing lock solenoid which actually can sound a bit like a bark? And you're saying this happens without pushing any buttons on the remote, so like if you press the lock button on the inside of the door as you're exiting the vehicle? And if so, is it as soon as you press the Lock button, or as soon as the door closes? Or is it when you press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons on the keyless entry pad to lock a closed door? Does it also sound the horn three times when locking with the remote fob?

I am assuming barking mean honking. The typical is leaving the car and taking the fob with you while the car is running. That - I have definitely heard. I havent heard of this otherwise, so the basic question - if you put the fob in the special spot in the center console, does it stop barking, and have you changed the battery before it does die? Also - just a thought is the fob shorting out?

If you lock the car with the remote, does it do it at that time? Will it lock and unlock by itself? Does the remote start work? If the answer is yes, it's most probably the fob battery. Change it out. If you change it and it still happens, check the car battery. Don't forget, freezing temps play havoc with these cars if the battery is even close to being bad.

My fob was acting weird last week, changed the battery, all good. Also, touch tabs on the fob have little metal circles on them. If they've moved it affects the fob.
