I'm only using a 3.2" pulley right now and I think I can get it in the 460whp range if I add some fuel up top and add timing with the water injection. I haven't done much tuning (to read NONE) since my dyno as most of my power is unusable (438whp) anyway. I am also venting boost at 15 PSI. Un-vented got 17 PSI at 8k RPM, however, it dropped fuel after 15 PSI as it was tuned with the limiting valve.

Those are good numbers and it may inspire me to throw some higher octane fuel in and get better numbers. My dyno was on 91 octane.

460wHP should be obtainable with a 3.2" pulley. My old 3.2L made 450+ wHP with a 3.28" Vortech Pulley (S-Trim).

BTW, it's not how much boost you make, it's how much air you can get into the engine. .... there are so many different restrictions, intake side and exhaust side.

would you wanna let me in on some more info/ pics of your car Ransom? As in exhaust, blower, fuel system?

im starting to piece together parts for the build.

btw the graph looks like its showing your commanded afr as about 12.25:1

If I get a chance in the next few days, I'll put together a list .. I've done so much over the years that I can't remember everything and somethings have been "removed".

My dotted line is at 12.25:1 , BUT the tail pipe sniffer was/is off by 0.6 - 0.7 toward the lean side. So really, the dotted line is at 11.55 - 11.65 .... and since my PLX device is within +/- 0.1 AFR .....

Agreed. I've pretty much freed all the restrictions in this motor and one of my dyno's was heading up to near the 500whp mark, but it started losing fuel, then I bumped fuel (A/F curve still was not desireable) and added water injection w/o bumping timing to make use of the WI and really have not done any other tuning. I'm sure with some work it'll make that mark on pump gas. Race fuel should take it over the 500whp mark.

You're starting to pump me out about doing some work on the care :)

Ransom, you have the best sounding SHO out there hands down. I still remember voting for you in the "sound off" at the Maryland convention.

We also had some fun talking while waiting to do the NASCAR ride and drive during the Memphis Convention.::rofl:

Wow, 300ft lbs with only 7psi! Impressive!

I really didn't notice that before, I've always just concentrated on the shape of the TQ curve. Hmm, that is kinda high for only 7 psi of boost, must a combination of the efficiency of the T-Trim at that RPM, cams, and head flow. Of course, I'm making more boost/flow at those RPMs than most with a centrifugal blower, so it is hard to compare.

To answer a question that was posted over at youtube (I've got to get an account): I didn't put up that information. My SHO is an '89. I have no idea where he (the dyno operator) got his facts. I think he either posted my first run information or posted dyno info from year's past that I had on a disk for comparison.

I plan on building something along these lines, however I still have alot to learn and read up on about turbo/SC systems. (plus saving money!) My question though is what exactly do you mean by "unusable HP?" Do you still break traction? If so at what speeds/gears? When I finally do get to the level which you guys are at I have EVERY intention of pushing it to the limit!

With street tires, even in low boost, I can come nowhere close to using all my power (390whp) in 1st and 2nd gear, and it even slips sometimes while rolling through 3rd gear. I had a video of that, but can not find it.

I take it you have every suspention mod + you're Quaifed?? If that's the case then DIZZAM:hail: I'm definatly still new to the whole forced induction scene, although you're "Turbo How To" makes me get all gigitty on the inside:evilgrin:..and it was also VERY infromitive for dummies like me:nut: Anyways this might change my plans a bit on how far i'm looking to go now. As you said in your 'how to'... have a plan first:thumb: Question?....With slicks would that allow you to punch it in 1st & 2nd?
:thankyou:

Excellent, I am glad that it has helped.

Even some drag radials would allow this. My short sidewall 19's (35 series tire) would not tolerate psi less than 30 very well. But a 16 in tire, with larger sidewalls, and in a tire selection that is intended for it, lower pressures will mean more off the line grip. I know some of the TX guys run nothing but Nitto drag radials all the time on the street.

Geeze, I know that feeling. I have that issue way up at this altitude with my supercharger. I'm already planning on limiting the boost to 13 PSI when I move to Nebraska in 2.5 months.

1st breaks traction extremely easy. 2nd breaks them loose when I really get into the torque band and 3rd cans *sometimes* slip around a little. So, but unusable... I mean that I'm actually slower in the gears that I spin in as the most acceleration you're going to get is what the tires will grip without slipping.

Nitto DRs were what I ran all the time on my old s/c 91. I would run nothing less on a blown SHO

Cool beans!:) I think i have my eyes on the right set of tires then.

Probably not a bad idea! We wouldn't want to see you on "World Wildest Police Videos":naughty: But seriously you'll love the low altitude for your car. Here in DE wer're right at sea level & when it gets down into the 20's & 30's the power increase is VERY noticable!(Prob something like 20-25 HP on my car w/ bolt-ons) I'll let you do the math on yours & what you're capable of:thumb: And good luck on the move!

WTF I run 225 falcon azenis and I have minimal traction issues from a roll. Damn this ATX gearing.

excelent numbers! i'm loving the turque curve.

Actually, I would. I love the Montana chase with the 91 Mocha Frost!
