I am listing this in the here rather than electronics--just not sure where it goes but please help.

My SHO in the past day has started having electrical problems. The tach jumps all over the place. I does not go out like a crank pos. problem. It doesn't drop below where it should be but it will go way high even though the engine speed does not change. At a steady speed where it should be 3,000 rpm it will go up to 4,000 or so and bounce around. When speeding up it will jump way up passed 8,000 and jump all over the place. Seems to be more violet when accelerating.

Also while all of this is going on the Anti-lock break light stays on and the climate control panel cuts in and out. Sometime is just dims and other times it will reboot (everything lights up like ont start up)

Well,I'd first check batt. connections for clean and tight and make sure the pos. cable isn't grounding out with engine movement. Your alter. could be acting up . If you have plug/oil or water in plug well problem this can cause a "scattered" effect which can drive your coil pack crazy etc. etc. -----let us know what you find as these are good to learn from. How many miles?

Sorry I forgot to include my sig. line in the orginal post it is a '92 with 130K.

I drove for about an hour this morning and the problem was even worse. The car cut out several times. I got home and read your repley. I check the front three plug wells and the one on the driver's side had a lot of oil in it. I pulled the wire wiped it off and put it back in. I also pulled cleaned and tightened the battery termials.
While I had the bat. disconnedted I hit the brakes to drain the memory and then reprogramed the idle.

I seems okay for now but I am worried about the oil in the plug wells. I guess I might keep it a little longer. I think I need a new car and keep the SHO for fun driving and tinkering on. I have limited budget and I am depentd on my car but I do love the
SHO.

Thanks

I talked to my Dad about my SHO's electical problem and he said it was a bad ignition switch. Not where the key is but a box under the dash and on top of the steering column. He said the fact that only accessories that operate only with the switch on is a tell tell sign. EX. The climate control, wipers, turn signals, power windows were effected. Head lights, horn, power locks were not effected. I have purchased this 15.00 box and all my problems are fixed. Imagine an SHO with A simple problem. My dad is a wonderful source of info on older cars but hasn't kept up since retirment. He used to rebuild and build for racing--460s 429s 351s, 350s and such. I spend 1/2 my child hood watching him build these things and I have about talked him into doing my 60K I guess in my case a 120K with me. Hope this helps others out. Also a tell tell sign of this little ignition box is if the car runs okay with the accessories turned off and then acts up as the accesories are turned back on thus increasing the load. He also cautioned me not to ingor this problem because it can lead to an under dash fire.

Hey I am just posting an update in case some one does a search and needs to know how I fixed my problem. The starter went out and I replaced it. When I took it out I realized the post were one of the starter wires connect was loose inside the starter. I replaced the starter and it fixed the problem. The loose connection in the starter was grounding out and causing the trouble
