O.k. first off. Car is does not start instantly it has to turn over a couple times before it does. No it's not the CPS it's been replaced along with the radiator and a motor mount. When the car finally runs you can taste the exaust it's so rich. The car get's 14 - 16 MPG all in town driving) and yes the exaust pipes are black. On top of all that the tranny stutters into 2nd (it and ATX) when you apply ampel acceleration. There is even more when I turn the wheel there's this sound like dragging a wood board across the ground, and the steering is loose when you hold it in certain spots (the steering wheel moves left to right left to right in a constant rythmic patter). I've invest so much into the car $4850.00 total so far - I'm not willing to let it go. Please guys I'm in desprate need of some help.

Thanks

Jason Bowles

With the car not starting up right away may be attributed to a timing problem. As stated on this forum, when starting, turn the key to the ON position and hold it there for about 5 seconds, then turn again to turn the engine on.

With the tranny slipping into 2nd try repositioning your foot on the petal...from middle on up on the petal...keep foot parallel with the petal...my 0.2!

Hey man, dont be like me if you feel like your car is a lemon it maybe time to look for another. You think 5 gs is a lot?

Your first prob, you exaust should be black and the first few minutes of your car warming up you should smell gasoline. Its supoose to run rich at first so itll warm up. Perhaps you can find a local high school or something to run a freee smog pretest to tell you if your really running rich. 16-18 mpg? How hard do you drive, becuz thats not THAT bad.

Your tranny, i dont think reposistioning your foot will solve your problem. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but those atxs in stock form arent exactly bullet proof. frown

First off, the starting issue may be because of the camshaft sensor. This is located on the passenger side of the engine on the last Cam. It costs about 10-15 dollars and it is very easy to replace. The rich condition can be caused by old O2 sensors. Try running your codes to see if it spits out anything. Are your running on all 6 cylinders? Running on 5 will cause unburned gas to exit the tailpipes and make the smell you are describing. Now, the stuttering issue with the ATX. Well, i'm sorry but start saving your pennies for a new one. The 93's are especially the weak ones. Just check the fluid and make sure it's topped off. Finally, the sound when turning. Check your inner and outer tie rids and make sure they aren't loose. Check your subframe bolts and make sure everything is snug. But make sure you scan your codes rigth away because that could tell us a lot of your other problems.
