Anyone know which fuse supplies the air compressor in the back of the multi-contour seats. The passenger side seat in my 2010 has a mind of it's own and will inflate at random. Still under warranty, I have to take it in to get it looked at, but would like to drive it without my wife complaining about the seat until I get a chance to leave it. I'm sure it will take them days to reproduce what it does every 3 minutes for me.

Thanks for the help.

It looks like you'll need to pull fuse F35 (10A) in the Battery Junction Box. This will **** the lumbar compressor for both front seats. Fuse F5 (30A) in the Battery Junction Box will **** all power to the passenger power seat with the exception of the lumbar compressor.

Thanks, I tried F5 and thought I got it, until it inflated again. I'll try that one tomorrow. Thanks again!

Mine does the same exact thing. Let me know what the fix is when you take it in.

Mine does it too. I have noticed that the lumbar on the drivers seat will inflate a tiny bit every time I get in to take the car out and was thinking about pulling that fuse as well!!!

It drives me nuts as I dont like the lumbar support at all and if i leave it alone it will end up just like the passenger side and be fully inflated if I dont keep turning it down. I have noticed that the lumbar switch doesnt effect it, I have to use the little rocker switch for the "massaging" and when its all the way deflated I have to hit the lumbar switch a bunch of times to get it to stop where I want it to.. if that makes any sense...

so F35 is the fuse, where is the fuse box at?

Sorry but I don't feel we should be having to pull a fuse on a $40k plus car! Come on. Ford should come out with a fix for this.

I haven't read where anyone's given Ford a chance to fix this yet. For all we know, they are not even aware of the issue yet. Come on, give them a break! It's a relatively new design with unique features, which is probably a large part of the reason many of us bought these. If you want simple and reliable, get a bicycle. If you want cutting edge features (how many other cars have this massaging seats in this price range?), you need to expect some issues that we will need to help Ford work through.

I've informed my dealership. The cars have been out since 2010. I just feel that they should have a TSB about this or have issued a recall.

I have not had any problems. My seat inflates some when I start it. But that is probably a result of the memory seat. DrHags, Have you double checked the manual as to how it operates?

My dealership contacted Ford about this problem and are waiting for a response to the ghost passenger seat lumbar inflator.

Guys, I don't think there's an issue with the seats.

The lumbar in these seats are inflatable air pockets on models with the massaging seats. I believe there's a compressor which maintains the exact size of the balloons when the car is running.

When the car is off, perhaps some of the air leaks out, or it loses some of its balance. When you start the car, the lumbar remembers where it's supposed to be, and automatically takes in some air to fill it out again.

I'm a Train Operator in New York City, and the air brakes on our trains operate similarly. There's an air tank beneath each car which holds a particular amount of air necessary for a complete brake hold on the wheels when the train is parked. Over time, it naturally loses some air. When it gets to a certain point, the compressor kicks in and takes in some new air for a few seconds, and then shuts off, to maintain a balance.

If you want to test this, adjust the lumbar on the passenger seat so that the air pillows should deflate completely. Leave it like that for a few days, and see if you still get ghost inflation on that seat.

Mine do it occasionally and it has nothing to do with the seat memory. Some days (mainly if it's sitting in the sun and heat) it will go to max right away... My guess is something is returning to a default position of full.

Had it in to the dealer and they found nothing.

Keep us updated.

update

My dealership contacted me and told me ford sent them a part. I believe it's some kind of module that is under the passenger seat. Having it changed next week. Will let you all know if this fixes the ghost inflation. And yes, I have tried to deflate completely only to have it reinflate when starting the car again.

Seat is fixed. What they did fixed it. I believe it was the module under the seat.
