Title basically says what the problem is. Drove home from work today and the transmission started wining, not going into gear, and then started semi-locking up and chattering/jerking. Did I destroy the trans or could this be something with the diff? Any questions, please do ask. Thanks in advance guys

Could be the differential pin scraping on the differential casting / housing. It breaks through the case eventually.

Or, it could be the throw out bearing has broken through the clutch pressure plate fingers, or at least half of them, and that is a noisy situation and has some of the symptoms you are talking about.

Check your transmission fluid as a start.

It does sound like a diff pin failure. I would not move the vehicle one more foot, or you risk punching a hole through the case.
