MTX Tranny - Strange Noise

A couple weeks back, my sho started making a rattling noise from the tranny area. Just figured it was coming from the loose heat shield. But the heat shield is fixed and the noise is still there. The mtx is leaking fluid and is probably very low on fluid. (getting that fixed this week.) It sounds like a rattle, or a clattering noise. It is very loud from 2k-2700 rpms. Before and after this point it is hardly noticable. What could it be?

Is this a trick question? "tranny is leaking and very low on fluid". Fill'er up and listen to what happens.Tom
