A few months ago I blew the Diff pins in my 94. My question, I have a very capable guy telling me he can weld the case, I do trust his welding but not sure I would trust the tranny afterwards, Has anyone done this? I have done a search and come up limited on answers. All the Gears and such are fine, I cleaned them up, thinking of putting a quaife in this if it would work. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance for your advice

Depending on the amount of damage that needs to be welded, you might as well give it a try. The best outcome is a complete success. The worst is likely a weld that leaks some amount of oil. If it were a small leak it might be sealed with rtv.

As long as he preps the metal thoroughly there should be no problem with welding. If by chance he ruins the case in the process, it's really no loss since the case is scrap at this point anyway.

Of course, I am assuming that you will 100% disassemble and clean the tranny before giving him the case for welding. There can be absolutely zero oil residue or dirt in the cracks prior to welding. Anything les than this is a waste of time.
