mtx tranny problem?

i was driving down the road the other night and i heard a load clunk and the next thing i know 3rd and forth gear are gone. then while i was driving home i heard another loud clunk and 1st and reverse were gone. sometime 1st and reverse work now. what wrong with my tranny?
