MTX-IV removal

I've heard you can't have both halfshafts removed or the diff will dislocate in the transmission.... if this is true how do i get it out without that happening?

That's a myth, at least with regard to the MTX-IV.

The splines of the half shafts just slide into the tranny. They have nothing to do with how the tranny works inside.

Supposedly this can happen. I have had both out of two different cars without it happening however.

I have heard in the past all you have to do is stick a socket or something in the hole the halfshaft come out of on one side and this will keep the diff from moving.

i'm fixing my mtx iv '91 diff. pinns sheered i saw on the pics , that fast 4dr posted , for the stock diff. where are the pinns ? underneath ? i can't see them in the pics. another thread shows a diff only and the pinns were welded . by the way i failed to ask do i have to replace diff. if pinns sheer ? or is it still good and just replace pinns w/ stainless ones & weld those ? if i have to replace diff. where do i get a stock one anyone know how much bizzy charges if i bring tranny to her

Good layout, just need to turn it around and show an example or the power transfer for gears 1-4.

So where is the input shaft bearing? is it even on there?
