I have 91 SHO MTX and I want to rebuild it, but I founded on ebay only "86-89 bearings rebuild kit". Will it fit to my MTX or I need only 91y bearings kit?
Tank you.

all the ebay kits I have found are for mtx-v which do not fit our trans.

I've seen no problem to rebuild MTX. and I think it's cheaper than ATX which will work without any warranty :)
What do you think about that:

That kit will not work with our transmission. Even their listing states it is for the 4-cylinder Taurus (the famous MT5).

You are looking for a rebuild kit for an MTX-IV, which nobody sells.

Bits and pieces can be found around (for example, non fiber blocking rings: http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=115114), but there are no full rebuild kits for the transmission. If somebody says they have one on eBay, they're lying.

As mentioned already, a good source for parts to rebuild a worn MTX-IV are:
a) a low mileage MTX-IV
-OR-
b) an MTX-IV that has chucked a diff pin
-OR-
c) somebody who squirreled bits and pieces away years ago.

I have two mtx tranmissions disassembled in 2 boxs. One with a diff pin that partially ejected and the diff did not get ruined. Both trannys ran great, shifted great and the syncros as far as I can see still look good. Was going to save for far future if I ever was to need anything out of them, but I see other things ending my showagon before the transmission does. So what you need?

I have also SHO MTX Limited Slip-LSD (eBay link to Phantom Grip)

Run! Run quickly from the Phantom Grip! Search the forum, as these have caused an early end to several transmissions.

My favorite quote: "at least with a phantom grip, you won't have to worry about a diff pin blowing. the trans won't last long enough..."

if you use a phantom grip in one of your 2 good mtx-iv transmissions, you'll very soon have a rebuild kit for the other one.

...i would imagine being in Russia (based on his location) he doesn't have an abundance of extra tranny's around.

Why do you think so? What's happen with MTX? Is it completely block the differential?

It takes an already weak connection and makes it about half as strong...then, it makes it completely rigid.

Phantom grip will make phantom MTX-IV.

Get rid of the Phantom ASAP as it will ruin the transmission.

No one has really rebuilt the transmission lately due to no rebuild kits. SHONut has most of the seals and bearings.

If you need parts most get hem from used transmissions.

nobody rebuilt MTX-IV? ever?

Hopefully that makes sense, Russian is a longtime hobby for me so I am no expert. I am also unsure as to whether I used the correct word for "automobile transmission". Anyway good luck!! :omgsho:\

Ok. I understood. I have 1 more idea- ford mondeo 3.0 have a duratec engine from taurus and it also have a manual transmission MTX75. so there is a chance that it could be installed on SHO. Maybe someone use non-sho MTX on SHO engine?
