MTX fluid change

Could someone please explain how to refill the fluid in the manual transmission. People have told me to look for the 3/8 bolt but I cant find it. I was wondering if someone could take a picture and show me.

It's more of a "plug" than a bolt. Has a square in it, that a 3/8" drive will fit in. Works best with a little 4" extension. Get under the front of your car, it faces forward on the driver side. You'll have to suck the old fluid out, or drill and tap for a drain. There should be a sticky somewhere on the forum.

when i did my clutch job it all fell out haha, and i haven't been able to figure out how to get it in. what does it take 3 quarts of ATF?

I think that sounds right... 3.1 something like that.. might want to get 4 just for sport. Also, what worked good for me is a long funnel, and some small hose you can cut and tape to the end of the funnel, it is pretty slow filling, but the long tube funnel will hold itself if you wedge it in there right.

ATF is what you want, I like synthetic.. I use Mobil 1, others use Valvoline Max life, GM syncromesh, Royal Purple.. just get something along those lines and you'll be good to go.


P.S. Did you change your seals now that all the fluid is out?

k thanks for the info. most of it fell out, but some was still in there so i didnt change it should i have?

If it fell out the way i think it fell out your probally ok to just fill it back up.
