A battery is a battery as long as the cables reach and it fits the hold down and isn't too tall and hits the hood, which shouldn't be a problem because the group 34 battery a 2nd gen takes is very short compared to most other sizes.

A quick look shows that the v8 battery is a 58r, replacable with a 34r. So, it will fit the holder but your cables may be too short because you need a reverse terminal battery.

I would clean up the connections on the current battery. The 98 starters require a certain voltage. If still nothing then purchase a new battery. Obvioulsy i don't know the age of the battery in the 95 but if the 95 is used it might not offer the required voltage. Might save yourself a jump in the future.

my cables on my gen 3 fit ether way.. they come right up to the battery together and split side to side all it takes is a twist of the cable and bending the cables to the right post.
