I used a piece of 2x4 flat on the seal , while tapping it in with a hammer on the other side.

I'm getting ready to do mine and maybe I'll get my butt kicked too, but these have helped me with troublesome seals in the past: Make sure the recess for the seal is absolutely surgically clean. A little sanding might be necessary if there is old sealant. A very thin film of grease on the leading edge of the seal to help it get started. Put the seal in the freezer for a while. Try a different brand of seal, although I'm not sure there is any difference at all between BCA and Timken.

BTW, Josh's technique on the MTX rebuild CD is to tap around the periphery, being careful not to hit the rubber lip. Working it in a little at the time. He uses anaerobic sealant on the outer part of the ******.

As Bob stated, throw it in the frigde or freezer(be careful with the freezer for obvious reasons) and apply a light coat of grease. I would personally use some vasiline.... :nut: "insert funny comment here".... You could also heat the trans up a bit with a propane torch-- don't go overboard with this though....

1 long weekend

But that includes removing/sandblasting/painting the subframe, Taking the tranny to bizzy, rebuilding subframe/rod bearings/picking the trans up from bizzy/reassembling everything.

I guess I'm saying...every job is a bit different...and timeframes will be hard to nail down because of that.
