Crazy question for you:

IF my SHO is unrepairable, I'd like to salvage what I can.

1. If I pull the SUB AMP and Speakers can they be plugged into the pre-amp of an aftermarket deck? It's a JVC deck that's a few years old, it DOES have rear pre-amp RCA jacks.

2. What does the crossover duties on the JBL system??
3. Does the sub amp automatically amplify the bass only, or would I need to also pull the SHO amp?

The wiring diagrams I pulled on the forum here don't make a difference between the sub amp and the regular amp.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

My van stereo sucks, but I just changed out the factory tape player and it sounds a little better. I really don't have much money to throw at it... I know that buying new speakers would be the best option.

Right now it has 3.5 inch speakers in the dash, and some 6.5 inchers in the liftgate in the back. The JVC deck I put in is rated 40w/ channel. (Probably max and not RMS though... )

Maybe I'll put the SHO's speakers in the back. I'm considering building small boxes to put the subs under the front seats.
Then I'd need to install a dash power switch for the subs/amp since my wife doesn't like the bass. And there will be a newborn riding w/ us in September....
Would turning the amp (connected to the pre-amps) on or off while the Deck is turned on hurt anything?

THANKS!

Are you driving?? It's quite the trip.

Time/ location?

I'll have to talk the wife into it. She gets tired of me and our 5yr old boy talking about cars...

ps- If you ARE driving, I'm going to look at the crankshaft/ block early Friday. If it's messed up (and I think it is) I plan on parting it out. Cheap. :thumb: (I have brand new plug wires, used alternator, etc... that you might want.)

If you're interested I'm in Mannheim, which is pretty much on the way to Ramstein from Italy, about an hour from there.

I will find out the exact time tomorrow, I think we are leaving early Friday morning, on of the guys going has a FI mustang that doesnt like to sit at the toll booths for too long. We drive right past Mannheim, I dont know if I am going to take the SHO or not I think my MAF crapped out and I am still waiting on it to get here but hopefully it will be here before friday. If it doesnt come we will probally be taking the BMW. I will find out more info on the Show and email you. I am definately intrested in some more parts. Let me know the turn out.

Im not looking foward to the 9 hour drive :madflame: but it should be worth it.

yes they can, I've done it, you just need the pin-outs of the gray cable running to the back of the car. you solder on RCA connectors, and everything will work

Thanks. :thumb:

2,4shofast- I drained the oil tonight, the car is sitting in the shop overnight. The first few quarts of FLUID were ANTIFREEZE.
I'll probably part my sho out- make an offer on any parts.

if the first few qt's were antifreeze, it may have just been a HG. If it's just that, why not replace the gaskets, do a set of rod bearings, and put the car back on the road?

HG's for the 3.0 are dirt cheap, well on ebay at least.

Well, a rod bearing spun. The end of the rod disintegrated and the oilpan had some aftermarket "ventilation".

I'll be parting all of it in the next week then getting rid of it. Let me know if you want to stop by and pick anything up. (cheap or free.) :thumb:

In Germany dial 0621-728-4641 or cellphone 0175-728-7128. I should be home (or near it) pretty much all weekend.
