- Search engine turned up this link in less time than it took you to type your question. Answer is about half way down the page.

You can take your old mount and drill 4 holes in it, 2 on each side, then bolt them down. Haven't had a problem for 6 years and holds as much as you can throw at it pretty much, plus they out perform the SHONUT Reinforced mounts I have in another SHO. The SHONUT ones cost over $300 for the set, whereas the modified stock ones were $15...Best $15 I ever spent!

Could you explain where to drill these holes ? Is it the same as in the urethane page only without the goo?

There's a page somewhere with a link to pictures. If you can't find them or me, I will take some pictures and post them up. :thumb:

I did a search and found what's required.I think I can manage drilling 2 holes I may even try the urethane also depending on the cost of urethane. I sure the global shortage of urethane will make this too costly. :nut:

If youve got a bit of time, and a few tools, check my sig for a how-to build your own urethane reinforced mounts. ;)

I followed Kenny's instructions for both of my mounts and everything went as advertised. Many thanks to Kenny for his site on doing this. He even tolerated my questions by email. :hail: :hail: :hail: Also, when all is done, if you value your labor at all the price he charges to do it for you is reasonable.

It's a pain dealing with the odd shape of those mounts when trying to drill straight holes. The hardest part was keeping the flanges in alignment because they shift as you tighten the compression bolts. I ended up using a torque wrench to ensure both sides were tightened the same and that worked out pretty well to keep things aligned. It's also a bit unclear how much one should tighten those compression bolts. I was conservative, tightening them until about 1/4-3/8" of thread protruded past the hand tight point. A 1 lb. can of the Flexthane 94 is enough to do both mounts, and you can order it from mcmaster.com, PN 8644K18, $32.33. You'll have some leftover, so be ready with any tool handles you want to coat or anything else you want to encase in urethane. The required 1/2" bolts can be found in grade 5 at Tractor Supply Co. The one place I deviated is I welded washers on to reinforce the holes for the limiting rod on the front mount because on mine those holes had rather puny edge clearance. Kenny said he's never seen one fracture there, so I am probably guilty of overkill.

I hope they work as good as they look. They did fit just fine. We'll see how they perform pretty soon.

BTW, you can get new rear mounts from Rockauto. They are made in India, and don't look quite as nice as the factory mounts, but they are an option. I didn't use the one I ordered because I was able to reuse my original rear mount and reinforce it.

First thing to do to that indian rear mount is drill it and bolt it.

Sammy....THAT MOUNT IS TOAST!!

holy cow...you cant fix that...it needs replaced...obviously. try finding a servicable one in a junk yard and bolting that.

If you use longer bolts, you can soften up the mount slightly by using sway bar endlinks under the nuts.

I'd weld a plate on it (the base) but not too thick, hole in the center , pass a huge bolt in it - weld the head. And you have your stud back.

Poor man's solution , but this is fixable , but only worth it if the rubber is good.

That wasn't the way I was talking about, that bolt isn't going to help anything except stopping the motor after it's done traveling about 6 inches up.

Do you see that bolt you installed, beside it look at those two humps on each side. Those are where you drill and place the bolts, 4 total. You need to drill from the inside to the outside [side of the mount]. <---actually start from the outside, as you can't start drilling from the inside. And don't tighten the crap out of those bolts, or you'll flex the mounting points and make it impossible, or a pain in the ass to install.
