So lately I've been noticing a noise apparently coming from the driver's foot well of my 2010 SHO, that I can only describe as a cycling motor. I assume this is the driver's side blend door actuator hunting for position. Is there a diagnostic in the EATC that can be run to pinpoint the failing actuator? I know on my 99 a diagnostic could be run by hitting a button combination on the EATC module but it seems that is no longer the case. I have a knockoff ELM327 and Forscan if that helps. I'm familiar with the clicking actuator failure (my coworker has an Impala that clicks and clanks away for several minutes when driving). Has anyone else had an actuator fail in this manner? Is there just the one actuator on the driver's side?

Thanks
-Brad

Very likely the BDA, yes. Sometimes it just needs to be pushed past the "****" once, then it will work correctly for some time. Ultimately, replacement is what is needed though.

There are recalibrations for various models that appear to "fix" such problems for varying periods of time, I do not know specifically one for the Taurus/SHO.

There is an actuator on the passenger side as well, behind the glove box. I believe this is the easier one to replace.

OK, so it seems there are 4 actuators according to the EATC schematic.
-LH Temperature blend door actuator
-RH Temperature blend door actuator
-Mode Door actuator (Defrost, Panel, Floor)
-Air inlet door actuator (which has no position feedback, I assume this is the re-circulation door actuator)

I also found 2 Motorcraft part numbers for actuators that "fit" the car:
-Motorcraft YH-1769
-Motorcraft YH-1779

As far as I can tell, the Motorcraft YH-1769 is the mode door actuator and the YH-1779 is for the part used on both the LH & RH temperature blend doors? Is this correct? What is the part number for the inlet door actuator?

Thanks
-Brad

I looked through Forscan and can't find anything about the EATC/HVAC. I looked online and found a procedure to enter a diagnostic mode (press the power & Defrost buttons simultaneously then press the re circulation button) and the power button light, A/C button light, Re circulation button light illuminate and the auto button light flashes, also on the display screen it alternates between Auto and the full speed fan icon. I can't figure out what to do from here and there doesn't seem to be any info online about it. Does anyone know how to use the EATC diagnostic?
