I just got new spark plugs, wires, and my valve cover gasket and yeah anyways so im driving to work today and all of suddon I feal my rpm pop up and down for a second, I think nothing of it, 10 seconds later again, another 10 seconds later again, then it does it more often around every 5 seconds the rpm jumps up and down, I stop the car to see whats up, im at idle, i see if going from 1k to 500, then back up and down again, and then it stays at 500rpm. Now it stays at 500rpm during idle and driving at 55mph in 5th gear is at about 1,200 RPM, and for some reason it really doesnt want to go over 2k RPM while driving, No check engine lights, and I getting a weird noise from my engine bay, i dont know how to decribe it, and it sounds real sluggish and sounds like its about to stall when going from a stand still, Im really just relying on some one to know because their is no CE codes being thrown for it.

Car is a 93 SHO MTX with 100,750 miles

Your car can and will throw codes without throwing a CE light. You need to check your codes...go to www.midwestsho.com for a list of how to do it. Then you can also use that sight to check what the codes mean.


It would also be a good idea to double check the routing of your plug wires. Some of the manuals have the diagram wrong. If you do a search of this sight I am sure you will come up with the right way to run the wires. I do not know off the top of my head...been a long night filled with cops...

Does ti jump while cruising? If so then it is proabably your IAC valve and you need to either clean it or get a new/used one.

It was dropping rpm and coming back while cruising, with in like 5 mins it kept dropping and coming back more often, and then it just stayed dropped to around 450-500 idle and driving its always low, its struggles to accelerate and hits a wall at 2k rpm.

Before the spark plugs, wires and the new gasket was replaced it had hard starts and hesitated because their was oil in my wells, after that was done the car ran perfect, 2 days later it does this, I had acouple people listen to it and their are two sounds a ticking and whirling sorta noise, they said the one sounded like a vacuum leak.

If you removed the intake manifold, double check your vacuum lines. Other than that, check your plug wires. Good luck!

my buddy fixed it, it was the one of the vac lines being off and my plug in from my DIS to the coil pack was slightly loose so he pushed that back in and he tightened up the vacuum lines, I need a new vac line for one because their are acouple small holes in it for some reason, and I need a new air filter, theirs a piece missing out of my current one for some reason also.

lol, has the car sat for anything more than a week? you probably had somthing trying to nest in there! i dont see anything else taking a chunk out of an air filter...
