ok, so my new clutch has a few thousand miles on it. It's one of the Autozone one's, dynapack i think. I usualy have no problems with it. Except if I drive it for awhile, like on the highway say, then I enter stop and go traffic. Well, after awhile of the stop and go, my clutch starts to grab really close to the floor whenever it's in gear and I'm edging forward. Then I put it in neutral to sit around while waiting to move a foot, step on the clutch, then I can barely get it into first. I actually have to slam the shifter in first. If I let the car sit for a few hours afterwards, it's usually fine. Does anybody know why this is? Also, my flex pipe is bending too much when I take off, so my car gets loud, and if I ever mash the pedal to the floor I hear awfull banging, which I think is the exhaust system banging around. The shifter also sinks into the floor a bit upon acceleration, this means I need new motor mounts right? Thanks for the help.

The clutch part sounds like the classic throwout bearing/ pressure plate issue. Only fix would be ripping it apart to replace them.

On howstuffworks.com you can see animations of how the clutch works- the tob pushes the pp which releases the disc (which is on a shaft coming from the tranny) from the flywheel. When you release the pedal the tob relaxes on the "fingers" of the pp. The PP then pushes the disc against the flywheel, making the engine/ tranny move together.

When you have the car off does the tranny shift in/out of all gears smooth? If not, you might have tranny issues.

Good luck with it all-

Fix the motor mount(s), they can be causing most of your problems.
