From the pics it looks like the cover is attached to the grill. Why not just remove the mesh from the MS grill where the cover goes, remove the cover from the oem grill and attach it to the MS grill? Seems pretty simple to me.

:thankyou: That's kindof what I was thinking Bill!

I did go ahead and email Adam at Mobsteel as well regarding our concerns over the ACC system and their grille. I'll have to wait to see what he says and I will report back here with the answer.

Got an answer from Adam earlier this morning:

Ill put in a call today, i am not expecting them to give me any kind of constructive advise, because it will boil down to liability, which also makes me concerned. Let me see what I can come up with.

He'll do 2 things: 1/ contact Ford for a solution (not hopeful) and 2/ Give it some thought himself.

It seems like a lot of work just to install the new grill, plus after spending close to 800+ (with shipping and SHO badge) I don't know how wild I would be able having to try to "piece" together the lower grill. IMHO.

I think we are lucky we are even getting the grills made. It sucks to have to modify something to make it work, but what other options are there? You need the cover there, and I bet the metal mesh is going to interfere with the sensor. You can either just order the upper grill, modify the oem grill with mesh (like the MS car), or modify the MS grill and add the oem cover on it. I dont think adding the oem cover to the MS grill would be that hard.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound negative, and the ACC might be a cover, but I thought the lower grill was one piece and that the cover was molded as part of the lower grill. I could be wrong but since it is snowing and raining, I'm not going to crawl around on the ground to see if it is a cover or part of the lower grill...maybe someone with a garage could check. But all the times I've cleaned the lower grill, it always looked like a one-piece deal to me.

Mmmm, I'm not sure if the bottom grille is one piece either but I'm with Mark regarding NOT crawling around in the snow and slush right now to check it out.... ;)

Sounds logical. I can't give an opinion yet since my car isn't quite here yet so I'm relying on you guys to see what's possible.

I'm almost positive that "cover" simply has tabs on the back side of it that just pop it into place, holding it securely within that trapzoidal cut out.

Great news to all those with ACC equipped SHO's who are interested in the Mobsteel grille.
Today I was able to take a closer look at the OEM lower grille and it's just as Mike suspected, the plastic cover over the sensor is not molded into the grille but is a removable piece. I pulled on it a little bit but did not completely remove it because I'm not sure if I would break any tabs on it.

Now that I know this though, I will have no trouble whatsoever with "clipping" the mesh out of the Mobsteel grille and attaching this cover over top of it! :)

Operation "replace butt-ass ugly Ford grille" is back on!!! :woo-hoo:

Thanks for lookin' Andrew. Good news indeed......:thankyou:

Might even just clip the cover on the Mobsteel grill without cutting (initially) and see if the ACC still works. It just might -- who knows.
Worth a try to my mind. Could always clip it later on :)

Sounds like I'll be making a visit to your house Mike. We can do the grille and the mirror bulbs. Friends don't charge friends do they? Lol

F*ck no they don't...... but friends do expect friends to bring with them some cold beer

Certanly helps when those install breaks occur and then afterwards when the project is completed and the celebration begins!

Greg..... it won't be the 1st time my neighbor's have seen fellow car enthusiasts come over and then moments later see me (or us) tearing their car(s) apart and the garage radio blasting and a growing collection of empty beer bottles gathering on the front lawn.

Bwhahahaha :laugh_ti: :nut: :laugh_ti: :nut:

Man!!! Maybe I need to make the trek over to Chicago for a wrench day!!
