I agree with Bob, air flow is critical, but I don't think it is as important on the lower grill on a car that isn't being used in racing, but I'm still thinking I like just having the ACC side covered.

That's what I meant Mark : for that application. I understand that airflow and potential for overheating is questionable on this car and wondered how critical.

If the grill would be the 'proverbial straw' then leaving things well enough alone would be prudent. I hope things are not that critical.:)
I do plan on some "Water Wetter" by RED LINE . I usually get some for all my cars but the SHO won't be an exception. ( IF I EVER GET ONE!):nut::)

I would PM Darreli regarding this as he is installing a new radiator in his (larger capacity). Rick @ Livernois could also comment, as they have a SHO test vehicle.

My EB Flex has no cooling issues as I have a custom and very open grill compared to stock & a 170 deg. T-stat, but my tuner, Torrie McPhail indicates that the SHO's he has dealt with, including his own, had cooling issues when pushed hard.

I believe that most of the cooling air on these cars, including on the stock EB Flex enters through the lower opening. But... perhaps the MobSteel grille by its open design, may solve these issues by the. volume of air going in the top opening......

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.....

I'll check with Darreli...thanks for the tip. and yes Rick would be a good source too.....
Sounds like your Brick is quite open up front so did you want the extra cooling for the hotter weather or just extra protection?
Any issues with having a cooler thermostat? Is OEM still around 190 - 200 F...I've lost track in recently years.
Any mileage diff with things being cooler?

I've not had a turbo b4 and wonder if e-cooling is more of an issue than no-T'd.

Cheers for the info, -- I'm pm'ing Darrel and Rick as we speak.

Heard back from Darell and he'll hopefully post up some info on his latest cooling mods for us sometime soon perhaps.

He says these cars get pdh, (tho not overheating hot) so probably could benefit from cooling in a number of ways somewhat.

Interesting stuff. I much prefer a cooler running engine but of course I don't want to upset the emissions/gas mileage either.

Cheers,
C.

I'm with you on this one Mark. I just contacted Pam at Mobsteel to let them know that I would only like the ACC side of my grille covered.
I don't mind the look of only the one side covered and if the air-flow argument stated by Bob makes any significant difference I will not have to worry about it.

Cheers!

Zeus, I really kinda like the unbalanced look of the one covered side. I would probably try to adapt the stock cover that says "ACC" to the Mobsteel grill, just because I like the look of the writing on the cover, but your new grill is going to look awesome!

HELLO !! I would like an answer please .

I believe the lack of response to your question is an indication that no one is sure whether the paint would interfere, however if you are closing off the ACC side you would not have interference from the paint unless you choose to have the frame painted in a metallic color. I believe most are having the frame of the grill painted matte or gloss black.

Here's a thought pal. The reverse sensing indicators are painted, right? Does that hinder their ability to tell us how far to back up? No, it doesn't. I would really think the painting on the ACC covers would be fine, but that's just my 02 cents though.

Does anyone know if mobsteel has a show room? Since there in my area I would like to see the product in person. And apparently there is been some difficultly with contacting them, haven't replied to my email.

They dont have a "showroom". If you stop by there you can see their Taurus and the grilles on their car. Good bunch of guys there, they spend time in the garage instead of getting back to customers...that's my only complaint

Ok guys, this mobsteel grill seems to be some what of pipe dream to me. After reading many threads of it's progress it would seem there hasn't been any. Any way I am think taking matters into my own had a modifying a stock grill to look much the same as the mobsteel grill. What do you guys think? Does anyone see any for seeiable issues? My idea is to pick up stock grill remove cut out all the center bars do some fiber glass work gets some mesh a ta da my own custom grill. Any advice or input would be very useful. I do have one question at the moment, what's the best way to strip the chrome off?

Actually just got an email from Adam the other day. Appears as though my grilles are very close to being done!
