My SHO has been running well for so long, I guess I was due for a problem.

I ran through a touchless car wash yesterday as the SHO was filthy. I started up and pulled out of the wash and noticed a problem imediately. Almost no power and when starting out in first there was popping through the intake. I hoped that something just got wet and would dry out. Parked the car at home and this morning went out for a drive. No change. So I hooked up the code reader and only got a code for the power steering(Need a new pump). Ran the cylinder balance test and came back #2. So I checked both ends of the plug wire and reseated them. Ran again and still #2.

Normally I would just get a new plug and wire on there, but I am concerned of how the problem started with the car wash. Anything else I can check here?

Water in the plug well? What plug wires?

Water can easily come in the cowl and drain right into the rear plug wells.

Tomorrow Im going to take a better look at it. I couldnt get the plug wire all the way out due to the canester bracket that is right above the rear center plug. I do have a spare DIS I can try as well if it comes to that.

I agree with water in plug wells since it was after a car wash.

Sounds like water in the plug wells to me....

Since it started right after the wash.

Well just did a better investigation. The plug well was dry. They all were dry. Pulled the plug and it looked pretty good, just a little dirty. Cleaned it up and put it back in and still failing for cylinder 2. Went ahead and threw my spare DIS on, and it turns out it is no good. Car wouldnt even start with it on. So I think Im going to go ahead and change the plugs and wires for good measure. Maybe it was just a coincidence that it started acting up after the car wash. Im just hoping that its something simple.

Anyone ever use the O'Reilly brand plug wires? They are only $55.99 a set and Im a little short on cash right now.

So I started out by going the cheapest route and I changed the plug. It seems to have fixed it. Ran the cylinder balance test twice and passed both times. So hopfully it was just a defective plug. I guess time will tell.

Well I may have spoke too soon. The misfire is still there but not as bad with the new plug. Having this information, I am now leaning to the coil pack. Anyone else want to add their 2 cents?
