I've owned 1 93 auto sho befor and the gas mileage was pretty darn good, the car ran absoulty great! I purchased it at an auction and resold it for a pretty good profit but i liked it so much i decided to get another that was owned buy an older couple not to far from me, it is an identical 93 green and tan int. automatic. This new one has 10k less miles on it but the problems are as follows....after owning it for two days i started to smell antifreeze and low and behold the upper hose had a gash in it so i replaced it and i still smell antifreeze but i cannot find a leak anywhere. Ever since i fixed the hose the car has run hotter than it did befor (temp gauge gets into the "nor" where it says normal) it stayed in the "mal" befor? When I get on it sometimes i get a sulfer smell? The gas mileage is very bad about 135 miles a tank in the city? The car has but rarely dies after comming to a quick stop but only when I was going slow to begin with, I ran some fuel inj. cleaner thru it and it seemed to stop that problem. Sometimes it doesent want to start "like its not getting gas or spark or somthing" but it does start even if it acts like its not going to? The check engine lite comes on from time to time which was the case with the other 93 i had but the old 93 never smelled or ran warm and never had a problem starting it? I'm new to the trouble shooting game on these cars so any help would be greatly appreciated....also how do you go about running the codes on these cars I have no idea? the car has 153k miles and the trans is strong just like it should be after an old couple owned it since 97...again any help PLEASE!!!! :headbang: Here is some additional info the car runs very good and smooth but not quite as powerful as the last other 93 i had this one has a very slight hesitation when hammering it.

First of all, visit this site www.shotimes.com and click on "Care and Feeding of the SHO", great info here.

Second, consider starting to do some maintenance (60k depending on how many miles are on it) for more info on this visit www.shophoenixproject.com

Usually the culprits to bad gas mileage are:

ECT (engine coolant temperature sensor) - determines temperature of engine, if not working it will result in very bad gas mileage, about $19 from Autozone

Oxygen Sensors - $55 each from Checkers or Autozone I believe

Thermostat - it is not uncommon for the thermostat in the SHO to stick open making the engine run continuously cool, consider checking that, about $25

How warm is your car running judging by the temp gauge?

First thing check your codes, you can do this by visiting the first link I supplied (shotimes)
