I used Mothers "Mag Polish" on the black plastic on my '95 mirrors. After a few coats and some elbow grease they are a nice deep glossy black that seems to last for awhile. I redo them everytime I wax my car - which to me isn't really that big of a deal to keep them lookin good.

What it does is removes the oxidation from the plastic.
