Well, you couldn't be doing many (if any) 7K rpm shifts, driving it like an old lady.... ;-)
Ford even acknowledged in '90-'91 that those clutches didn't cut it.
If you didn't buy it new, I fully suspect it had the upgraded clutch. The stock 9.25 was VERY wimpy. The stamped PP was meant for a 4-6 cylinder econobox.
You can suspect all you want, it won't change anything. It was the small stamped, 9.25" clutch disk and cover...I still have it, attached to the 140k+ mile engine...in the corner of my garage.
The 9.25" clutch was plenty reliable...it was the average customer that never learned to work a clutch properly that caused so many premature failures.
