Your fuel gauge is a fuel gauge. The gauge that measures how many miles you travel is your odometer.

A '93 ATX, has it been properly serviced, any check engine lights? Are you talkin highway miles or in town?

Highway I would guess mid 20smpg
In town I would guess 14-18mpg

carry a full 5 gallon can of gas with you. drive it til it runs out of gas. add the 5 gallons to the tank, refill the can, then drive til youre out of gas again, noting your mileage. do this twice at your average driving style. this will give you a close estimate of how far you can go on a full tank.

each vehicle is different as far as fuel mileage goes. not all vehicles have the same maintainance, driver, equipment.

As mentioned above, YOU have to figure out what YOUR car gets for fuel economy.

You can try it Dale's way, or the usual way: Fill your car. Drive it for 200-250 miles (the more miles you drive, the more accurate average MPG number you'll get). Fill it again. Divide the miles you've driven since the last fill-up by the number of gallons the car took, and that's you're MPG. Take your MPG, multiply it by 18, and that's how much you can usually expect to get from a full tank, or you can extrapolate it to figure out how many miles you'll get out of say each $10 in gas you put in.

Every car gets different fuel economy. In my '92 I could usually get close to 30MPG, and in the '94 it averaged about 22MPG. A poorly maintained SHO can get as few as 10MPG or less. The only accurate way to determine fuel economy is to calculate it on your own car.

My gauge doesnt work either....I have a 94 ATX with poor gas milage....This is how I figure it.......I filled my tank up and kept an eye on how many gallons I put in......To burn a whole tank of gas it usually runs out in about 240-260 miles.....So then Id say 5 gallons of gas will usually get me about 60 miles......10 gallons will give me 120-130..... this is not an actual calculation but its quick and to the point!!! And I never run out of gas......

Don't know if the gas prices here have moved at all this week. I didn't care to take the SHO on the road in 6" of snow today with all the morons on the road who can't drive in it... :madflame:
