I dunno...my wife says that there is a horrible metal on metal noise coming from the motor...I will have to wait and see, I recently had the car's intake off, but didn't notice anything unusual...I'll return to this and keep you posted....

When this is fixed there will be a 1995 ATX sho for sale......I'm out..... :jpshakeh:

I have had this intake off many times before and was again very careful not to get anything down the intake runners, but you never know....Look at whatg happened to Adam's car.... :jpshakeh:

sounds like the motor spun a bearing. The wife says that it just started on the way home, how much am I looking at for this repair? Is the crank pretty much screwed too?

BTW, when this car is fixed she is going up for sale....I'm SO tired of fixing these cars I could just puke....

Depends on if the crank is scored or not. If it's not badly damaged I've read a few topics where Tom and some others talked about how to repair the crank. If it is scored badly then basically new motor time. :jpshakeh:

I am currently debating on wether to fix and then sell or sell as is...if I do, I also have a bulletproof tranny on a pallet that I would throw in...

Maybe Catalytic Converter?

Well after starting the car this morning, I did notice a few things.....

1) the exhaust is CONSIDERABLY louder than before

2) the noise doesn't start right away, rather it takes about 10-15 seconds to start.

3) I recently drove through a monsoon and possibly ruined a cat or both...

The only way to be sure is to pull the pipe off tommorrow, start the car, and see if the noise goes away...here's hopin....

Bad Kitty!

Well after pulling off the ypipe and shaking it around a bit, I have identified tha problem as a loose ceramic particle in the rear catalytic converter. What are my options now? Can I go to an exhaust shop and have them remove the cat, get the particle out, and then reweld? Or should I replace the cat converter altogether?

This is a performance plus ypipe, so I guess I would need to match the flow characteristics between cats, and I guess the third and most expensive route would be to reorder a brand new one from Ford Specialists, but I am not at the place where I can shell out $600 for one now...

BTW, the yamahammer sounds pretty cool with raw headers, as my neighbors in a 4 block radius can attest to... :naughty:

A good shop should be able to weld in a new cat for you. Make sure you have them put in a high flow cat. www.summitracing.com has them, I forget the PN offhand. Glad to hear it wasnt you motor. :thumb:

After shopping just now on summit, I noticed quite a few different manufacturers and sizes for cats. I would presume that I would need a 12 in long 2.5" inlet/outlet for a direct replacement into the Performance Plus Ypipe?

I guess I might as well replace them both while I am at it....will the catco converter flow as well as the ones that came with the pipe?

Murphs exhaust man, Jose, uses Catco high flow cats. thats what i have and they do flow nicely.

they average about 60 a piece. there are a few cat convert online sites that offer them for a good price.

just measure the length of yours, and the diameter of the tubing, and go from there.

Doug

We'll see how she behaves over the next few months...these constant repairs need to STOP! Either that or my wife will be filing for divorce! :squint:

Car or Wife ?. . . . . . . . ? . . . . . . . . . neither is very cheap! . . . . . . . Still thinking . . . . . . . . .? if you lose the wife does the garage go with her? that would make the decision easier.
