Does any one have any more info on MWSHO's stage II upgrade than is listed on the web page (ie. rotor size, fit stock 16" wheels, pads from a Cobra, etc)?
Also, does anyone have this kit installed and if so what do you think? Seems like a decent kit. I'm hoping stock wheels will fit due to the fact I live in Denver and would like to keep the slicers for winter and the 17's for summer.

These use the 10.9" rotors and will definetly fit under the slicers and even under the basket weaves. They offer braking as good as the 11.6" upgrade with significantly less weight and offer a virtually unlimited variety of pad options to go with.

Thanks for the info. Are the brake pads from a Mustang or other Ford vehicle so I could purchase pads locally as well as the rotors when needed? Also, do I need to update the front spindles or not and are drilled rotors avaliable?. Thanks.

The brake pads are generic Mustang pads yes. What year is your car? A 93' or older will require updating the spindles to the 94' - 95' revision.

Just a side note, where in MD are you. I'm from the Woodlawn area. Was just back there 6 weeks ago for my mom's funeral . WOW, has that place changed. Use to be a good Catholic neighborhood. Now it looks pretty rough!!! Went down to the inner harbor and had some awsome sea food at Phillips. Anyway. Later.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but can you purchase replacement rotors for this kit from an autoparts store? Also, exactly what trim level / year Mustang pads does it require?

The rotors should be the stock sized rotors for 90-93 cars. The calipers are off of GT Mustangs versus the Cobras.Although, I've heard of at least one owner of them bending more than one set.

Actually, the rotors are from a 1994-1995 Taurus. Prior years are too small @ 10.2".

Sinister, what do you mean bending? Bending what? Kinda curious, since this exact setup (minus the $460 hole in my pocket) is going on my car in a few weeks.

more rubber, more HP.....
I ran this type of brake setup for awhile.

The pads and calipers are off a 2000 Mustang GT which I scrounged off ebay.

The calipers are made by PBR and feature huge 45mm dual pistons. (These calipers are NOT the Cobra PBR calipers.)

They do require the '94-95 spindles as well as the SHO '94-95 rotors.

Stopping power was pretty good... as good or better than the '96 brake upgrade and as mentioned, a lot lighter too.

The main problem I experienced using street/track type pads was the brakes tended to fade easily with such small rotors.

The pressure from the pistons bent the caliper. The pads were worn / \ like that from the caliper bending. I dont know exactly how to explain it other than, they bent.

The PBR HD calipers seldom bend across the bridge like that. The light duty PBR calipers do that if you overheat them.

I've seen evidence of an HD PBR caliper doing that but IIRC it was on a race Mustang where something was wrong such that there was always pressure on the pads. The resulting extreme overheating condition softened the caliper so that it bent under heavy application.

I've never heard of an HD PBR caliper bending on a SHO.

I was under the impression that the GT[Stage 2] calipers were the Light Duty, where the Cobras were Heavy duty.

Yah, but the Mustang GT calipers are Light duty calipers, correct? Personally, I would not want them..
