Ok, I have done everything I can without removing the MM and jacking the motor up.

1st question: How far should I be able to lift the motor?

2nd Question: Is there anything special I need to do when replacing the pressure line?

Thanks!

Why are you lifting the engine?

I have been able to remove the PS pump and change the pressure line without moving the engine. It is a pain to change, but it is possible.

Make sure you have new teflon O-rings for the threaded connections. Don't over tighten them as it will ruin the o-ring. It is easier to stop on the undertight side and then tighten it later if it leaks.

Did you take the passenger wheel and fender lining off? That's the best and only way to access everything.

A wrench, from the top usually. I disconnected that one hose that goes to the fitting on the back of the intake, and that wiring harness at the firewall, and pulled it up out of the way.

I have the pump off and I'm going to save the fitting on the back of it for last.

I'm going to take the line off the steering rack now, that way, I can move the pump around for plenty of room.

Sounds good, now we'll see if it works...........

Was your PS pump leaking down onto the passenger side cat? My 93 smokes from the PS side rear or the engine and something is dripping onto my cat, im not sure what it is but its really annoying since it stinks and smokes out the hood. Im going to get under the car while its running and see if i can see anything...just interested if others have had my issue. Any it isnt my oil pan anymore since i already redid the gasket on that.

Yeah, mine was smoking bad! Would go through PS fluid all the time. It was dripping on the pass. side cat.

It still smokes a little bit though. I have to get back under it and have a look around. Probably some stupid hose!

You need to loosen the HP line fitting before you unbolt the pump! I use a crows foot wrench as described in my write-up and pictures below. This is all the dis-assembly that is required to get the pump out. No need to go through fender well or remove motor mount or jack the engine, at least on Gen II MTX.

Loosening the tough to reach rear mounting bolt, flex socket at the other end of the extension is not visible.

My line was just zip tied to the other hoses and tucked away from the exhaust mani when I removed mine.

I guess somebody had replaced the pump before me.
