So i believe i finally located the cause of my temp gauge issue, the main ground that goes to the negative battery terminal, then to th fender, then to a plug/harness that if unplugged the car wont run, i found it melted/melting.

i can the car for 1 minute and found both that and the main negative cable to be HOT AS ****.

tomorow at work im gonna toss the midtronics at her and check out that alternator cuz i think somethings cooking.

any suggestions on the problem or maybe im going down the right track ?

The only reason the ground cable would be too hot and melting is because of high resistance. Sounds like the ground system needs ripped out and new wires installed.

yeah, the charging system checked out OK and so did the battery. so i guess i might have fryed wires.

Ground problem

I would check all ground connections for corrosion on loose connections.For ground wires to melt there has to be a dead short to ground on a hot wire.Is the main battery ground cable melted?

No, with DC current anything that goes out (+) has to come back (-)( some will argue about this direction wise). So the grounds are as important as the hot wires.

Any corrosion of the ground circuit on a DC system will create a higher resistance and reduced + voltage output (to the input).
