I'd like us to start getting our schedules together as much as possible so we can ensure that attendance will be as high as possible at our meets this year.

So far I see a couple of March/April threads on meets at dragstrips, but we really need to get things a bit more organized for those. Places that we'll meet at a given time so we can all get to the designated track area at the same time, driving directions, etc.

I know in March the big Lapeer meet should be still on. This one is organized by Ron Porter usually, though I don't see anything posted about it yet.

Ryan would like us to meet at Milan on opening day which is April 16th. See details in this thread.

I'm planning a huge bash for mid to late June...either the 18th or the 25th. Given that Carlisle will be June 3-5 I think the 25th for this one would probably be best. Thoughts on the date are appreciated. My plans entail either a meet at Norwalk followed by a BBQ and possibly a live band ~ OR ~ Meeting at Maumee Bay with a BBQ and possibly a live band.

Carlisle - June 34d through 5th. Details on this event can be read here.

SHO Club National Convention falls in July. Click here for info on that event.

In August since the weather should be nice and warm I'd like to organize another camp/drag or possibly just a camp with a tech session. Willieshome offered the use of his land as the camp ground the last time I saw him so we could possibly do something there in conjunction with doing some 60k work or something else in his garage. (I don't remember if you volunteered your garage Willie....perhaps I just did that for you. :) )

In September I'd like us to meet here in Michigan at Dave & Busters in Utica, MI.

In October I think it would be cool to head out to the Cleveland area for some sort of event. Suggestions would be nice. There is usually a Lapeer meet at the end of October so we should probably keep that in mind as well. It is usually the last Saturday of the month.

In December our anual Christmas meet, possibly at the QS&L we met at between Maumee Bay and Cleveland.

Mini-meets in between those dates are always cool. I'd like us to have more tech sessions at Matt's house and at Ryan's house. They are very centrally located places for pretty much everyone and we always seem to have a good time. Both are great hosts.

Thoughts and suggestions are always appreciated. I've been asking for help for the last several years in getting help to coordinate events. So boys, now's the time for those of you who want to help to step up to the plate. Matt, Ryan and Jeff have offered their services and I think that they would be a good group to head up the Michigan clan. Anyone in Ohio who'd be interested in helping please speak up. (I know Perry will help, right Perry?)

The biggest thing about coordinating events is that we all work together so our group stays organized (not more than one meet on the same date) but still relaxed. It's a lot of work to organize an event, once you start you should commit yourself to see it through.

That's about it, let me know what you guys think.

Beth I have an idea for a possible substitution for the QS&L meet, infact I think you've been there. But it would work for any time through out the season.

As you know, Auburn Indiana has one of the nicest automotive museums in the country, the Auburn Cord Duesenburg Museum and the NATMUS(truck museum) located behind the ACD Museum. This was actually one of the stops during the last Indiana SHO Convention. Along with those two museums there is the WW2 Museum and Hoosier Air Museum just south of Auburn located right off of I-69. There are plenty of nice, unique restaurants in the Auburn and Angola area to eat at. Also, there is an indoor-outdoor go-kart track near me in Angola.

BTW, Auburn and Angola is VERY centrally located in the Tri-State area. It's about three hours from Chicago, Detroit, and Cleveland. Angola is only 5 minutes from the intersection of I-69 and 80-90 and Auburn is only about 30 minutes. So it would be convenient for everyone to attend.

If any of that sounds good to anyone, I'll let you set the date and I can help with any leg work. Just lemme know.

I love the new sig pic John! :thumb:

As for the museum, I think that's a great idea. Feel free to go ahead and set something up. I trust your judgement in all respects so have at it. The only months I really want to avoid are when the big events like the convention are Carlisle are happening.

I don't know if I'd replace the QS&L meet. It's becoming an annual end of the year meet.
Anyway, if you need any help with a Cleveland meet, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

I don't want to replace the QS&L meet over there either. It's a great place to go. Never once have I gone there and not had fun.

If you want to help out, we'd love to have you head up the Cleveland area group. If you find a place that you think would make a cool meeting spot just let me know the details and we'll take it from there. I would appreciate the help a great deal. Since I'm only one person it is diffucult to say the least, especially when dealing with life's every day personal challenges, to be sprawled in 20 different directions at the same time. So your help would be very much appreciated. :thumb:

Just a couple of things to throw at you. June 23-25 is the St Ignace car show, though I don't think too many of us go there. September 9-11 is the Frankenmuth car show. That one's a biggie and is usually on my list. I'm sure there are other favorite events in the area, maybe the Springfield car show near Dayton? The ACD museum is cool with me, so is the Dairy Queen about a mile west of there!! Maybe a SHO caravan thru the Woodward Dream Cruise?

woodward dream cruise is something i always attend regardless. last year we cruised a bit in my 95, then met up with my freind and all hopped in the back of his ugly lifted dodge ram. this year im goin to try and have my caddy ready for the cruise tho.

i would be up for a good amount of events during the season as long as time, money, and car permits.
remember there is also the TCCA ROTB. its in michigan and gingerman raceway. so lots of u guys could hit it up. those who havent heard its like the sho convention.. but alot smaller. very fun tho.
