mechanic to work on the sho

i posted this in the sho related to but does anyone know sombody or a good mechanic that works on shos...im trying to find someplace to get mine fixed so i can drive it to NC to my next base

Sort of depends on what you need done. After all it's just a Taurus with a fancy intake and an above average DOHC V6. Most mechanics with any real knowledge can do the maintenance on them, might cost you but that's going to be the case regardless of what car you're maintaining.

Plugs/wires/valve cover gaskets/and brakes are well within the capabilities of most shade tree guys. Suspension can be a PITA but mostly cause the cars are rusty (and Fords). Clutch/front 60K/valve adjustment/etc may require a little more skilz/patience just depends on your experience/tools/garage/etc...

Where do you live? You might be able to talk a competent Forum member into helping you out.

the car is at my house in coloma...its about 1:25 north of madison...near wautoma....as for what it needs...i think the steering rack needs to be replaced, its got 2inches of play i checked the nut that sometimes causees it to do it and it was tight so im thinkin rack.its my main concern...as far as i know its never had a 60k...so im just waitin on wen the cps is going to go so...i know its not if its when.. i wouldnt mind doing a 60k also i think the alternator is going...i was also thinkin the waterpump...

what other parts would be recomended to replace...its got 137k for mileage

i also want to just put out there what has been done to the car....struts all around,breaks all around,valve,intake gaskets,and plugs and wires, also new sway arms, and a starter...prolly more little stuff but nothin major
also want to mention is ocasionally has a drop in idle not to often but maybe its something... i know the exhaust is gettin louder..i dont think that is to pertinant and if i fix her up id prolly just put somethin better adventually....w/in the next 10k


its sucks being to far away to work on the car i would love to do the stuff myself but floridas a little far away
