may manual tranny stuck in 2nd

The manual transmission in my has just locked up without warning. It seems to be stuck in
2nd gear, even though the shifter is in the neutral position. I can move the shifter into reverse and 5th gear,
but it stalls out if I try to engage the clutch. I cannot move the shifter into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gears. I've never
experienced this before .... any ideas before I haul it to the shop???

Whoa wait a sec, you say you CANT move the shifter into second? I thought you said it was stuck in second. Get under your car and check the sihfter linkage going into the tranny. Make sure the shifter linkage hasnt seperated.
