Well I dont even know what to say.

week ago I got a p0325 code so i changed the knock sensor. so yesterday i got a p0340. So i tried to test for continuity in the wring to the cam sensor. i get no beep and zero.

when i look at the ECU diagram it says pin 7 is not used yet mine has a wiring going into number 7?

it's only about 4 cut in front of ecu. however it looks like the harness was messed with on top of the engine to.

At this point I don't know what to do. I have really no experience in automotive wiring.

Im think replace the engine wiring harness I have one from a 97. but mine is a 99

The ECU diagram I gave you it's for 96. Ford makes a lot of invisibles changes year after year... One of them is the programmation isn't the same for 96-97 and 98-99 but I don't know if it will affect the wiring. Maybe you will need the good diagram for this year then (I tought you have a 97 with which 96 have no big difference.)

Im wonder if it would be possible for me to just run new wires from cam sensor to ECU and bypass old ones? there's gotta be a catch.

alright we scanned it again last night and it's got a p01309 and it keeps saying the IMRC is stuck closed which doesn't make any sense as you can clearly hear and see it operating. when we cleared th code it came right back up.

and the car started and drove without the cam sensor plugged in? is that normal.

I think it's possible because the ECU can remember his last good firing sequence.

Ok, I made a search and it seems the wiring diagram itsn't accessible anywhere. I'm wondering if it possible to just rewiring the modified/bypassed ones ?

It will be great to find a copy of the 99 wiring to correct this.

Well last nigth we cleared the engine light and it came back on that night. so we gonna fancy scan it again and see if the cam, crank and knock codes are back as some of the codes are old.

I guess keep an eye out for a 99 harness unless I get someone who really knows there stuffs and can conform i can throw my 97 harness in it.

Today i noticed a strange thing. If I hold the gas pedal down really still and keep it at say 1.1k or 1.5k rpm the rpm's will physically dropped even with my foot on the gas. so basically the rpm drops on it's own.

In park it does that. but think it has something to do with throttle linkage /cable not sure what the technical name is. because there is play between me putting my foot down and actual throttle response. but still to me it shouldn't do that rpm drop thing I mention with tension on the throttle.

I mean the car is in pretty dang good shape interior exterior. even the motor the timing chains are tight the front valve clearances are spot on. and when i was cleaning the valves i saw lots of cross hatching on the cylinder walls.

it's just been cursed with the butchering of the wiring harness, but a new scan will tell us more.

I gotta get rid of that start up sound tho I mean it ALWAYS goes away even if I hammer it down i always pull into my driveway its purr quiet

well I got a full diagnostic done and the harness is working correctly. no pending codes. so it seems my knock sensor repair worked and the new cam sensor i installed fixed that code.

I took the car to dee pat automotive here in new york the owner also an owner of a 91 sho. the sound was classified as a writs pin knock. he said it was a fairly common noise on a lot of cars. I was told to not worry about it and enjoy the car. He also added it "passed emissions with flying colors"

I guess in some small way i believe this as Ive 7k rpm'd the car multiple times and always pulled into my driveway with it being purr quiet afterwards.
