Can anyone tell me what this switch is called ( level or pressure) and what the part number is?

My Ford parts guy and I have searched and searched, but the exploded view of the master cyl on his system does not even show this switch let alone the #.

94 ATX w/ABS

Thanks

It's the switch for the Cruise Control Defeat. It's a normally closed switch that opens with brake pressure.

Oddly enough, when the CC servo shorts internally, it pulls a high current across the contacts of this switch and blows the diaphragm. Once the diaphragm has a hole in it, brake fluid is forced into the wires and goes everywhere. The wildest thing I ever saw was a red brake light glowing on the dash at about half brightness. When you step on the e-brake pedal, the light would get bright. Release the brake and the light would dim. It was because brake fluid had seeped into the wires and all the way to the DRL connector. The brake fluid was shorting the connector and allowing current to backfeed the red brake light on the dash.

BTW, we sell the switch for about $30. The new switch has a metal diaphragm and pops when the brake is depressed. It's normal and you can't do anything about it.

Thats the switch that has been a pretty big recall for Ford after causing a lot of fires in Crown Vics and F series trucks.

You're Ford parts guy should know exactly what the switch is!
